Hello authors! A few months ago, we announced the launch of our new network site The CrimeWire. Since then, we've seen tremendous growth and reader engagement, which we attribute to the quality of articles we're receiving, staff outreach and support, and the popularity of the true crime genre. Numbers are reflecting both specific searches for topics as well as readers simply visiting The CrimeWire and spending time browsing articles—we believe this is because we've been working on creating a supportive and engaging community for both authors and readers.
We are inviting all HubPages authors to consider writing for The CrimeWire.
"But I don't write about gruesome murder stories and scary serial killers and bizarre missing person cases!"
Understood. True crime isn't for everyone, but did you know that many of our subcategories have nothing to do with the gory side of crime, but are focused on media, government, history, entertainment, or just plain oddball stories? Here are some examples of well-performing articles that are more academic and less macabre:
• Christopher Knight: The World-Famous North Pond Hermit (the story of a hermit living in the Maine woods for almost three decades)
• Did Crime Junkie Really Plagiarize Their Content? (a famous true crime podcast accused of plagiarism)
• Kempton Bunton: The Bus Driver Who Stole a Masterpiece (the story of a bus driver who stole a famous painting from a London museum)
That said, our most popular articles with the most traffic are about true crime, so if that is a subject that interests you, consider submitting articles about that too. You can explore the True Crime subcategory for ideas.
Please be aware of The CrimeWire editorial policy. Because of the sensitive nature of the topics covered, only serious writers with the willingness to write sourced, researched, quality material can be considered.
Submit any questions or article proposals to our main HP email address (editors@hubpages.com), and The CrimeWire staff will be notified.
Hi. I want to make sure that I understand your last sentence. I have a topic in mind. Does your last sentence mean that I shouldn't write the article first and hope it gets switched to The CrimeWire, or do I have to submit an article proposal before I start the article?
Hmm. My brother was murdered in 2004. His murdered is unsolved and now a cold case. Maybe I'll write about. I already have a poem about his death on LetterPile.
I'm sorry for the loss of your brother and for the fact that you don't know who was responsible, Jan.
I am so sorry for your loss, dear Janis. May his soul rest in peace. Ameen!
So, is it OK to write about the gruesome stuff? I started writing a hub about serial killers several years ago, but it was blocked, presumably due to details about the crimes.
You do not need to submit a proposal, but you're welcome to if you'd like feedback on an idea. Otherwise, go ahead and write the article as per usual!
There is no topic related to crime when we start writing an article. What should we select?
The main topic is Politics & Social Issues. The subtopic is Crime & Law Enforcement. Then, there are about a dozen sub-sub topics to choose from such as Crimes, Detectives, True Crime, Spies and etc.
I just wrote an article about serial killers
Years ago I downloaded the topic tree onto my pc onto an Excel document. From what I can find the access to the topic tree page is long gone on HP.
Edit: I just checked and the Topic Tree is still on the Web. See following link.

This is soo great. Millions of crime stories out there to research. More Network sites please and thank you for being the best
