A bit of advice around Amazon Capsules please?

Good afternoon all, I hope this finds you well. Over the years I have seen a cut back on the use of Amazon Capsules and understand why this was done. Like many writers, it's made a huge dent in my HubPages revenue though - combined with the rise in Ad Blocker software that most people seem to use.

I am trying to understand how to insert an Amazon Capsule in a way that is acceptable to HubPages moderators.

In one of may articles, about a particular destination, I had written a text module about a particular TV show that was filmed in that destination and for which this destination is actually quite famous for. I had described the show, where it was filmed, and the ties to the destination that my article was about. I then posted an Amazon Capsule featuring a DVD of that show explaining in the Capsule Text that you can enjoy the destination from your own home by watching this series.

I thought I had written text that was relative and the Capsule was relevant to the article. I thought I had cracked it!

But the Amazon Capsule was snipped.

I haven't put it in again as if this is HubPages' policy, then so be it.

It is my understanding though that when inserting an Amazon Capsule, it has to be of a product relevant to your article, with plenty of text in there to support this and not appear like a spammy advertising spiel.

So how do I work around this please, and use Amazon Capsules so they don't get snipped?

Does this mean that I would need to start writing an entire article about a product on Amazon and then post the Amazon Capsule in there? As in a personal review of a product, as a HubPages article?

No offence, but nobody cares about those kind of articles. They want to read magazine quality articles not extended adverts.

I want to keep producing quality content, but also I want to be smart about it so that my revenue improves.

Any advice from people who regularly use Amazon Capsules (that don't get snipped) and are making a decent income off the Amazon revenue sales would be greatly appreciated. My revenue is down by 66% since this policy came about - whilst I write because I love it, and love sharing content with my readers, a little help with paying the bills would be wonderful

Thank you in advance, my dear HubPages friends!

After reviewing your article, it looks like the capsule was snipped in error. You clearly have experience with the product. I do suggest adding a little more about the product before you add it back. Send an email to team@hubpages.com, and I can review it before it's published.

Thank you Matt, I appreciate the response. I'll get stuck into this later today

It may have been better to post this in the thread entitled "Update to Product Guidelines," as that's focused entirely on Amazon and capsules.

As a general rule, I think you can often learn by studying what HP do accept. That's to say, read the work of others who've been accepted into the niches and haven't had their Amazon snipped.

HP are generally very snippy nowadays, for sure. They get more and more strict and I've experienced it multiple times. Your best chance for not getting snipped is probably a review-style article.

Thank you, I will have a good read of that thread. I don't particularly want to be driven into creating articles geared at promoting an item for sale, yet it would be great to be able to improve my traffic and revenue.

It's finding that happy medium that is the challenge.

Regardless of how you include a link to an Amazon product, Hubpages has been consistent in saying to only include them for products you have direct experience with and are explicitly recommending for some reason.

Well as explained, I had personal experience and the product was relevant to the article and paragraph I had submitted. Two weeks ago I was sat eating an ice cream in the place I was talking about, and was writing about. Not sure how more personal I could have got, maybe star as an extra in the show for the series that I was writing about haha

So I am wondering if it a formatting issue? Am I instead to put my text on that capsule box?

I've taken the question to the thread mentioned above. Just wondering how other Hubbers are making Amazon Capsules work

If it's not related to the actual topic of the hub, they are likely to reject it.
