Poetry verses appearing in a text format instead of poem format

I was reading this article of mine by clicking at it from my account thereby landing on Discover HubPages page.
    https://discover.hubpages.com/literatur … dian-poets

So, when I  reached the point where I have illustrated some sample verses of the poems in the italicised text in two separate long paragraphs, I was shocked to see that all the verses got merged into a text bloc there. It is too much awkward for visitors arriving at Discover page to see poetic lines in such a clumsy manner presented there.

I hope the editors look into it and correct the appearance. I have presented it for selected on letterpile net work but not yet done. Is it due to the pending status that the verses got mixed up into a text format?

It seems to me that the formatting was lost when the poe text was entered.  The only way to have the hard returns added in the right places will be to do it yourself.

May be the case. I need to check it. Thanks for pointing.

Maybe post content as a n image, Then you have full control over appearance. Also ads won't get placed between paragraphs.

It is a long line of verses. So putting them in an image format won't work. I should break them into parts for doing it which I do not like.
      But, thanks for your reply.

Can't you just use a very tall image?

I think it is not permitted. And, it doesn't look good also.

Is the text of the poem available in a formatted form with verses so I could make one to see what it would look like? It should be possible to make the text appear exactly the same or similar to "normal" text on a page. It just won't be possible to highlight and copy it. Another downside is screen readers wont be able to read the verses.

HubPages is not designed for poetry due to the way the ads are rendered. That’s why I put my poems on Medium where we have control over proper formatting of poems.

I always write my poems in Microsoft word and then copy and paste to Hubpages article in text box.
Make sure it's formatted correctly on word.
You can make each line separate in a poem.

I don;t think the formatting is so complex that it needs to be an image. It was just copied in a way that did not retain hard returns.

The problem is ads may be slipped in after hard returns in the middle of verses. New lines could be used alternatively as a workaround by typing shift enter. Another issue is indenting can't be done without using blockquotes, in which case a long vertical line is shown to the left of text. Poetry I think is normally pretty much centred and left justified.

Not much we can do about the Ads....
They do simply tear our poetry apart which is totally shameful.

I wish they would fix it so a poem could stay a poem.

If they took out the vertical line alongside blockquotes, it would fix the problem.

It's not clear to me why poets want any ads on their page, period. The income generated can surely only be a few cents at most?

I don't publish poetry on here, I think there are better options elsewhere, but if I did, I would switch off the ads.

It is true. But HP staff keep on serving ads. Don't know why.
