For websites, this seems to favour the address of a website at the end and the name of the article in italics at the start of the citation (if no authors are mentioned). However Hubpages don't like raw URLs, so I'm wondering what we should do?

Eugene, I don't know how you can come up with these technical questions. I don't even understand this one. big_smile

I'll give an example of the two options later, but in the meantime I'm engrossed in trying to understand the technicalities of using Inkscape. Stay tuned!  smile

For example, take the URL of this discussion.

It starts with our website hubpages.com and then shows the URL of this thread /apa-citation-style-for-websites in italics. That is what she refers to. The debate is whether you can show the article title firstand then tag it to the website URL hubpages.com

I use https://www.calvin.edu/library/knightcite/ for citations. Anything that I think looks ugly or superfluous, I usually delete it from the citation. I think as long as the title, author, and enough information are there that people can find it is fine. You could add "web" to the end of the citation if need be to avoid the URL. I can understand that if there are a lot of links it starts to look spammy rather than helpful. And I also think if you're adding sources at the end of a page, you're ahead of the game overall.

I add sources at the end of the page. It helps me organize my thoughts, knowing I covered everything.

A single space will break the url but still make is easy to find if the reader wants to follow it

This is what I mean. Should we use the first style or the second. APA favours adding a raw URL rather than hyperlinking the name of the article.

If you want to use APA I would suggest being consistent and using the first style
