We've had a handful of spammers lately. Yes, it's not okay. Please report them rather than comment on their spam. I doubt the spammers even read your reproaches, and posting comments circulates the situation. Ideally, HP should evaluate their "new writers" better.

Yes, I have also noticed many of them and also reported them as spam. HP usually removes their comments/ content after reporting. But I am not sure if there is an option of evaluation before they publish something.

I don't think there is an evaluation. If HP did, it would benefit us all.

Kenna, I reminded someone earlier today that he could not add a personal text link to a post. Maybe you saw that.

Did you notice he'd copied your previous post word for word?

Bev, thanks for reminding me of that. He also said that he had updated his profile. From what I remember early on Monday morning, his profile only had about 10 words. I was expecting much more than that.

He was a spammer and is banned. No point in wasting pixels on these people.

Thank you. Please stop commenting on spam. I've asked many times. It does nothing but make it worse. I may have to start issuing temporary forum bans for those who continue to comment on spam.

HubPages has plenty of spam safeguards. Spam doesn't make it to Network Sites, and that is what really matters.

Yes, I agree. But no matter how hubpages screen new writers, spamming is an online reality.

Spammers come in all forms, even AI-generated, long-winded posts. Just report and ignore.

Kenna "handful"? My daily feed is clogged by dozens of the wretched things almost all peddling the "best digital marketing course in India."

I agree it's important not to engage with the posters but to report them; although I'm unclear about the reasons for this. Something to do with "backlinks" whatever they may be.

Yup! They're locusts jumping on our feeds and devouring our time.

While I generally agree, I do enjoy Fat Freddy's Cat's witty comments on some of the spammy forum posts!
