Screen-freezing Bug Problem

I noticed a problem this morning. When responding to the ad blocker pop up and choosing to "continue without supporting us", it causes the page to freeze. The reader is unable to scroll and has no choice but to back out of the page.

    Obviously, that's bad.

It occurs on Discover and every niche site I tested.

I tested with Chrome and Edge, signed in and signed out. Cleared browsing data. Restarted PC. The problem persists.

It is certainly still possible that this is a "me" problem, so maybe others want to check it out on their machines and see if they can duplicate the issue.

Edit: After posting this, I realized my title was a little inaccurate. It doesn't so much cause the screen to freeze as it does prevent the page from scrolling. You can still click links and browser buttons.

I've never seen an ad blocker popup.

It appears on HP sites when you have an ad blocker enabled and asks you to turn it off. You can say "nope" a couple of times before it insists and won't let you read the page until you turn it off.

I have ad blockers built into my browsers; Opera and Vivaldi. I don't get that notice.

Same with me. Perhaps it depends upon our settings.

Might be something to do with the tech crash that's happening globally.

I believe that the ad blocker may have become clogged with ads. It can happen when a page is excessively commercial.

My advice would be to buy a bottle of Adblockr Clog Destroyer from your local supermarket or hardware store. Switch off the ad blocker, unscrew the lid, and pour half the bottle down.

Leave it for a couple of hours and then switch the ad blocker back on. Everything should be working fine now.

      Thanks for the tip!

The directions on the bottle were a little confusing. Something about a drain, I don't know. I never read directions.

I just poured it straight into one of the USB ports.

      Hope that works.
