If HubPages would give writers the ability to delete followers, the spam followers problem could be solved. Does anyone else have a problem with spam followers? Right now I have 107 followers but only about 25 are real. All the rest are companies with products or services to sell.
The spammers never post articles. Their names just accumulate on my followers list, giving a false impression of the number of followers. HubPages even sent me a message of congratulations for accumulating 100 followers. But most of those followers are bogus.
This issue has become time consuming. Some of the spammers even go to the trouble of leaving fan mail saying "good" or "hi," which I have to review and then delete; glad to have that delete function!
I have written the HubPages Team about this issue but have gotten no response. Any ideas about getting this problem solved would be greatly appreciated.
I would just like to emphasize that having a delete function for followers would solve the problem and relieve HP admin of having to review the reports. I don't understand why we cannot be granted such a curtesy; we can delete fan mail, why not allow us to delete bogus fan mail spammers masquerading as followers?
Linda, I agree with you. We should have the option to delete followers for whatever reason. I've been reporting spammy followers but I don't know if that removes them from my list. I'll have to check into that.
I've simply given up on trying to purge the personal injury lawyers, interior decorators, and other ne'er-do-wells that say they want to follow me.
Isn't it a bit late to even worry about this, given that we are witnessing the final thrashings of the poor, wounded creature, formerly known as HubPages?
I doubt if there will be any more technical adjustments to the platform now. It's shuddering towards its end.
Bev, I agree. The cannibals are in a frenzy, plundering, spinning the remainder before we take our content and leave.
They're not even bothering to update statistics now. They've been stuck for several days despite Matt's assurance that they were looking into it and would fix it shortly.
It's clear we've been abandoned and are now orphans.

Every morning there's a fresh new crop of spam followers. So I've taken to responding to them with a message:"In the extremely unlikely event that I turn up in Nedlands, Western Australia, and in the even more unlikely event that I discover while there that I need curtains and blinds, I will...

That's my question. I refresh my Hub "In the Daze" every quarter or so. The old comments from the previous hub are still there. How do I delete them? Sorry to be so dense. Could you help me with this?THNXMarsha

Just in the past 10 minutes or so I've already gotten 3 spam comments, all on the same hub! And whenever I delete one, it seems another immediately comes up!I'm sure that when I wake up tomorrow (it's almost 1 in the morning now) I'll have many more to delete. Ugh, is there a way to stop these spam...
