Does anyone think it might be a good idea to segregate the religious forums from the rest?

I don’t know about you but I get awful tired of having to scroll through so many of them under the “ALL” forums tab in search of a topic to join. I know plenty of folks want to talk about that subject and nothing else, which is fine but perhaps there could be another tab added for that subject alone since it seems to dominate the ALL listings.

And yeah I know you can isolate forum topics, but doing so limits your listings to only that topic. Many of us will discuss anything but religion. Any thoughts?

Once upon a time, there didn't used to be a separate religious forum, so those post are segregated.

I'm pretty sure Admin will tell you to use the custom home page to view the forum sans whatever topics you don't want to view, as that's why it was invented.

Thank you, Relache. I have been lazy to date. It is time to customize my home page.

Yes but you can only do that on your entry page correct?
The forums page can't be customized can it?

I'm with you!  It is one thing to have a genuine discussion, it is another to continue to mutilate a dead horse!

But we all seem to like to 'discuss' the dead horse that is religion, mutilation and all.

I don't think it needs to be segregated but I wouldn't mind if it were removed from the latest activity feed. If it were segregated or removed then it would be discussed in every other thread. No matter how much some despise religion, it's not going anywhere anytime soon.

if you don't want it on your feed, don't include religion as a topic you follow and it won't show up, or you can click on the X of a thread that shows up in your feed, and select an option, 'hide stories in this category.'

the thing I don't get about the religious threads are those that go in when they have no interest? why? nothing better to do? hmm

I would appreciate a "follow thread" button so it would appear under "your" in the forum choices.  You would not have to respond to the thread for it to be there.

That way you could folow whatever threads you want without seeing the others you do not want to see.

Just don't read them.  If I'm browsing the forums and I see a thread and notice it's in religion forum, I don't even open it.

I find the arguments repetitive and tedious, personally, but I allow that many seem to take quite an interest in them, which is ok for them.

I usually do not participate in the religious threads but I do think they are really good for comic relief.

I think that when you go to the Forums List Page from the Top menu on the Entry Page there should be an additional tab at the top included with the existing “ALL” “YOUR” “UNANSWERED” tabs.

The are just so many threads relating to religious topics many other “interesting topics” are driven off the “ALL” listing page you don’t get to see some of them. Customizing is a nice option but you can still miss a lot.

I have nothing against religion but, for cryin out loud, usually half the listings page is this stuff. I say put it on its own section. Yesterday was I was on, and when I started this thread, of the 30 topics listed on the ALL first page 22 of them were religious forums.

    Enough already.
