Hi all, I searched for this topic before posting and haven't found anything similar.
I am having problems with the photo capsule. When I insert a photo capsule and then open it for editing somehow my screen jumps to the top of the page. I have to scroll back down to the capsule and try and load a photo/picture.
After I select a picture and click upload nothing seems to happen and the spiraling uploading graphic just keeps spinning?
If I hit F5 to refresh after a few attempts then a photo eventually is uploaded.
This has just started to happen over the last couple of days, and also from different computer terminals.
This is quite time consuming, wondering if anyone else is having the same trouble?
This seems very strange, never had it happen to me i'm afraid!
Have you tried using a different browser?
The same thing was happening to me a few days ago. Very frustrating! I thought it was just my computer. I feel better I guess knowing that it's happening to other people too so my computer's not just being stupid.
I had posted a similar thing to the forum several days ago and just today after days and days of trying, I was finally able to publish my latest hub. The best way that I have found is to load the photo capsules......they zip to the top of the page as you say.......go back down and save. Do that with several and wait a while. Then when you go back, it seems to load properly.
As you say, it is taking quite a bit more time and I hope that they correct it soon. Very frustrating as well as time consuming. Hope this helps your problem.
i am facing same problem since few month and also i have asked here only but still no solution!
this is probably the 10th thread on the subject...the problem is happening site wide, cross browser and at least for the past week.

well maybe not 10
frustrating after a while, I know....I'm convinced myself they were at least 10!
I did search for a thread before I started this, thanks for your help.
Don't worry although there are many threads everyone is having the same issue. I tried to add additional photos myself and Hubpages has added some new goodies so this is why the capsules will not move up or down etc. I am certain that they will correct the problem.
ok, I wasn`t sure why it was happening to me as well just since yesterday....hoping it will all go back to normal soon....I`ve collected some great pics for my last hub, and it isn`t the same without it!
Is everyone still having problems with photo capsules? I'm REALLY getting frustrated with the amount of time it takes to properly load a picture and all the hoops I have to jump through to get the job done. I think there are now 6 threads going without any HP admin response (unless I missed the response, although I've been looking). SIGH!!!!
Hi wordscribe,
What browser and operating system are you using? I noticed that some people said this is occurring across browsers, but we can only fix something if we can recreate the error.
Hi, Norah. I have trouble in both Firefox and IE. LESS trouble in Firefox, however, but the issue is still there...
Great, thanks for letting me know. Is the issue you experience the same as what was described by LeonJane in the beginning of this thread?
Yes, Norah this is the EXACT problem, well 2 problems technically... Thanks for your response.
It's not a problem! If you are experiencing an issue consistently and we don't respond in the forums, please feel free to send us an email.
I'll post status updates on this from the technical team as I get them. Thanks for your patience!
Thanks, Norah. You are always SO helpful.
Hi wordscribe (and everyone else experiencing this issue),
We still cannot recreate this issue. This is often the case with intermittent software problems, unfortunately. We are working to get it resolved as quickly as possible, but until we can see it, we can't fix it!
If you are experiencing the issue described by LeonJane in the beginning of this thread, please let me know your operating system/ browser and if there were any differences/peculiarities in your issues with photo capsules.
Thank you for your patience everyone!
I think HP play games with us hubbers now and again. They probably purposely mess things up to keep us all on our toes.
Strangely, the last two hubs I published went off without a hitch in the photo department! I stayed in Firefox and had no problems... hmmm.
Go figure, Norah the problem seems to have POOF vanished. I'm no longer having any trouble in Firefox. Haven't tried IE, but I rarely use it... I wonder if the problem persists for others? It's baffling, really. I'm glad the capsules are loading properly, it's been a pleasure uploading pictures in my last two hubs. Thanks for the investigation!
Well, as long as it is working I'm happy
If it happens again, let me know!
I'm still having a constant issue with the images. When i add the capsule, it has these play pause and other green buttons on it. Never happened until about a week ago. I am using Windows 7 and have been using it all the time.
Please see what you can do about this, as it is not helping me publish some hubs due to not being able to add pictures.
Thanks.
Been happening to me the with the same thing. I found that if I just add all the picture capsules where I want them and then mark/save the hub as unpublished and then go back in to edit the hub, the picture capsules usually are normal. I have, on a few occassions, had to save unpublished and edit a couple of times to get all my pictures done. This action helped it get done quicker, but this issue has been extremely frustrating. BTW, I'm running IE & Windows 7.
Leon,
this has happened to me a few times and the way I got round it was to exit the Draft Hub completely or log out and go back in again - it then works okay.
Hmm, i don't think it likes me then. Tried everything, pissing me off now.
Add the photo capsules (even though they look messed up), THEN save unpublished and when you go back in the photo capsules should look normal - at least that's what worked for me...
Sorry about this everyone, we are trying to fix it!
G Miah, try Lily's suggestion and let me know if that helps. It seems as though quite a few people with Windows 7 are experiencing this issue. Are you also using IE?
Yeah, I've been having a lot of wierd things happening lately and it's very frustrating. One example, other than this picture upload here at HP, is that my refresh and back buttons will suddenly just stop working and the only way to get them working again is to close out IE and reopen, then it works fine, until the next time! I was thinking it was IE, but you're probably right - it's probably Windows 7!
Well, thats strange! When did you first start seeing this back/refresh issue? Is it only HP or all sites where you are having this problem?
It is probably IE, but really, who knows with these intermittent bugs. I don't suppose you have tried to use FireFox and still experienced the photo capsule problem. That would certainly help us narrow it down
Sorry I forgot to check back here, Norah! Yeah, it is strange and quite annoying, but it's not an HP problem, it happens regardless of what site I'm on.
I don't use Firefox, so I can't answer that...
Ah okay, I figured it was a general IE problem. I did some googling and found complaints about that sort of bug on various forums and sites. Thanks for letting me know!
Norah - I've now seen the many threads with tons of people describing the same exact problems with the back, forward, refresh and save to favorites buttons. Typical Microsoft!
Do you think this issue with uploading pictures here on HP has something to do with the IE8/Windows 7 back button "bug"? I've had the back button issue for quite a few months now, but the problem with the pictures here started maybe two weeks ago...
Probably not, but I was certainly hoping the two issues were related! That would make our lives a little easier over here. Something must have changed a couple weeks ago to cause the photo capsule issue. We are thinking that perhaps it has something to do with IE 8's security settings, but I'm not sure how we can narrow down which setting is causing the problem.
Thanks for your attention Norah, but it's not just on IE or Windows 7, it is happening to me on all the pcs that i always use!
I didn't think it will be going on for this long. Oh well, guess i'll have to carry on without being able to add photos on their own. I can add images with capsules next to text capsules, but not on their own.
Thanks for investogating this issue and trying to resolve it.
Hi Lady E, which browser/operating system are you using?

I know traffic is a problem everywhere it seems; I'm not talking about low traffic, here. We all need to be aware of the HP's photo capsule may be affecting our bounce rates. There is a real problem if you use the photo capsule for anything-- even the intro photo. I'm NOT referring to the images...

I may be the only person that feels this way but I really don't like the look of our hubs. I think they would look more professional if they were wider. They remind me of blog posts.

I went into one of my older hubs to add a photo and got this message:"It looks like some images in this capsule appear to be reduced in size. Note that saving any changes made to this capsule will update the size of these images to fit the capsule."After adding a new photo, all the...

I really don't like the new photo capsules. I would like to make them smaller but can't. I have doubleclicked them with no results. I want the old photo capsule format where I can reduce the size of the photos This is ridiculous. I doubleclicked the photo...

In a recent HubPages weekly email, it was discussing the fact that many use photos and do not provide a source. I was thinking that this may easily be addressed by HP by requiring a source in the source field inside the photo capsule, whether it is "self" or the Freedigitalphotos,...

I have noticed a problem that sometimes happens when uploading photos. That is, they end up in the wrong orientation, posted sideways, instead of as they actually are. This seems to happen randomly, and without relation to whether or not the photo was rotated in Photoshop during editing...
