With my Bard of Ely account here I have just had a lot of success in earning money from eBay (48€) so now want to add it as an affiliate to my Tenerife Islander site but cannot find how to do so. If I follow the steps when I get to inserting my details it keeps saying it is invalid.
Do I need a new number or a new acount with eBay or something to have a second hubpage account as an affiliate with eBay?
I clicked on the option if you "Already have an eBay account" but it will not accept my details.
The Affiliates section here will not accept the eBay number I use for the Bard of Ely account and says I need to activate the domain. This I can't do because it won't accept what I type in as my details.
It is most frustrating and is why I don't already have this working on my new site here because I couldn't figure it out when I first set up Tenerife Islander.
Can anyone help please?
Just put in your EPN affiliate code. I don't think you have to activate your account again.
I had asked HP HQ about it myself when I added my EPN code to my other accounts and they said it was working fine.
I just use the same campaign number for all of my accounts. I click edit and just add the campaign number. It gives me a lot of grief, and I think it isn't working. But it is. Then everything looks okay. So I know how you feel.
Here's a tip... set up different campaigns for your different hub accounts, so you can also check the stats individually.
The only problem with that is if a campaign starts out slow, it can screw up your earnings per click.
campaigns do the opposite , they compartmentalize your account so the whole thing doesnt sink due to some low performers
at least, I translated it that way, it is highly suggested that you use campaigns so that you can cut the low performing traffic out yourself.
to me It was made pretty clear in the ePn announcements that followed the change over to QCP..
If you have one campaign and get a big influx of low performing traffic it can drag your entire account down.
I saw a 20 cent per click increase by cutting ebay out of a few hubs that were low adsense converters ( was just guessing the traffic wouldnt convert for ebay either)...it only took 3 days to see the big spike in earnings per click which has stayed on course for a month or so now. i can tell from my transaction history that the volume of sales hasnt changed at all..merely removed some dead weight
Do you do a transaction download and see what items are actually getting bids and being bought?
I did try it once but found it so tedious, I never bothered again.
I think I need to spend some time studying this.
Sunforged, any good resources on how to "do" eBay? I have some phpBay sites and I'm sure I should be doing some clever things but am not sure where to start.
Thank you Darkside and Nelle! It says it is "Set" but at the same time it is asking me on the side to activate and confirm the domain. This is where it won't let me!
So can I take it as working if it says Set?
Yeah, I think your fine. That's what drives me crazy too. I don't know why that it's so awkward.
Yes, that will work for you. You don't need to activate again. Once hubpages is activated, it doesn't matter how many pages you have.
Thank you, Nelle, lakeerieartists and Darkside! It says "Set" so I will trust that it is working and not bother about confirming the domain.
Hi there. If you have a look at your Bard account, you'll see it's also still asking you to confirm your domain. That never goes away, because HP can't access your eBay account to confirm it.
Lots of conjecture over at the ebay forum. Since I've been so cowardly about my account, I've done no experimenting whatsoever. I really would like each identity to have their own campaign. But things are going so well right now, I'm afraid to do something new.
I've been using two campaigns. I then added another. And now I'm sorting out all my accounts to have their own and tidying up my notes so it's all in a spreadsheet.
I'm making some money, not a great deal, but I'll keep an eye on it all and see how it goes. I'll let you know in... six months!
important factor:
It’s possibly the most important thing a publisher can do to help understand their performance and make informed decisions to optimize their activity. It is also recommended that each campaign generates a minimum of 50-100 clicks in order for the QCP algorithm to calculate a steady daily EPC.
For more information on the importance of campaign ids, see the relevant section in the post on optimising for QCP

Front Page at ePn
"How do I improve my traffic quality"
Continually optimize
* Try to give each placement or site a different campaign id, so you can monitor the metrics for each.
* Use EPC data to focus on campaigns that are performing well and optimize those that are of lower quality.
* When testing new approaches, remember to set up a new campaign and start with a small volume of traffic, so you can check that the quality of that traffic is improving.
Yes, I do that every couple of days. I can certainly see which hubs are getting regular clicks and purchases. How do you follow to see which actual items are being purchased?
And duh abuot the cutting out hubs. I knew that. Stupid of me.
ebay advanced search - just change to all ebay categories and enter item id (which u get from trans history)
http://motors.search.ebay.com/
i built a custom search into my browser
Okay, I was hoping there was a quicker way from the reports. Be interesting to see what their new reports looks like.
You had the same problem as me! It's a pain having to search for every item, isn't it!
I do have a quicker way...
I was reserving for a long unpublished QCP/ePn hub, but I iwll probably never publish it so what the hell..

this tool will read your text file and convert it to an easier to read format with pictures and all.
the rub? perhaps the person who designed the site created it solely to datamine other peoples info and find profitable niches.
Not likely..and from my general tech no how I dont see any evidence that this is being done...they do provide the script to run on your own secure server if you want to...so i trust it.
For the most part I just download the excel file and run the id through my built in search inside of my browser...I have been lucky and have been pretty much selling what I am trying to, so I recognize the prices and dont have to check everything
I am the person who created that script, and I guarantee that it does not save your information in any way. There's no datamining going on, period. It was simply a useful tool that I built for myself, and decided to make available for other affiliates to use.
But because affiliates are (and should be) suspicious of that sort of thing, I also made it available for you to download and use on your own server.
I have been mostly watching which hubs are getting clicks to determine which type of hubs to continue making, and have been doing okay so far, but I would like to raise my click rate. Although it is going up, it is going up very slowly. So I will start to dig deeper to get a better idea exactly what they are buying.
I downloaded the transaction report and was surprised to find it tells me which Hubs have made sales. So I've gone back and switched the Hubs that aren't selling to Amazon instead. In most cases I've found better products anyway, so it's a good thing - I guess I've been resisting Amazon because of the short cookie and the fact they pay in US dollars.
I have spent hours trieng to figure out Ebay. I hope you advise will help me. This is a super question.
Thanks tererife
Mostly I have been finding that my hubs that are geared toward selling on Ebay, are. But I do need to go back and look at some of the earlier ones too.
