Title says it all, really.
Why not prevent people from posting to the forums unless they've written at least one hub? Most of these spammers don't have a hub to their name. It wouldn't sort the problem out completely, but it would cut down on the spam a bit.
Careful though - force them to do that and we'll get tons of really bad hubs with repeated text, just to get past this rule.....LOL...well even more really bad hubs than usual!
I don't think there's anything anyone can do to stop spammers from doing their thing, it happens at almost all forums, not just this one. This site probably more due to the fact it's purpose is to generate traffic.
Grin, bear it, move on.
We just turned on a new spam tool for the forums, hopefully it will help! Please keep reporting what you find and we'll take it down as soon as possible.
It must be working fast, because someone just spammed (I reported a min back) and it's already been removed! Great job...
yep, that's it...stay low while the attack is full on...!
Hopefully, we'll all survive unscathed...
you too and justine too! Just staying away from the forums....but hell, somedays you just can't resist!
hi all. Ive been off, tending to a sick husband and my own migraine.

hope your all having a good day
ignore it, I think might be the easiest and best way.
I think this is the worst spam spree I have seen. I'm tired of reporting it LOL
Empress is about to throw a shoe at all of us!!
Question: is spamming the same as hijacking?? hmmm I wonder.....
nope. Ive never spammed, but I hi-jack plenty. I think hi- jacking is the only way to stop spam...like, if the OP was a spammer.
but it can be rude, sorry Empress, I know you had a legitimate thing to say, Ill be good now.
hi charlie ! Yes MOW! I know !
I'm hijacking the threads after this fool !
I think HP needs to restrict all new account for 1 hour before posting in forums.
Man, these spammers cracked reCAPTCHA.I think HP needs to add math question or other text based question to restrict spammers.
I thought Spam came in a can and was something that you eat? lololo I certainly don't want to drown in that!
No that's Hawai'ian steak spam is just a nickname.
P.S. spellcheck actually misspells Hawai'i apparently the internet thinks old dialects and local languages aren't dying fast enough.
Excuse me for the ignorance but why would someone want to spam the forum. Links are not allowed right?
There are a few links that are accepted, generally they aren't spam
You have the recomend another hubber thread where you can post their hub (not self promotion). The extreme makeover threads are find for your own hubs tho people will go and read and give opinions so you wanna be sure your ready for advice on how to improve your 'babies' I have yet to post one as my hubs are my babies
The political forums sometimes start with a link to a story in the news to get the debate going on that news story. If you want to post a pic here it has to be hosted on the net somewhere with a URL and the tags to tell the code that your want to show that picture here. Took me ages to figure that one out!
But if you block the forum for people without a certain number of hubs, the serious newbies won't be able to ask any questions...

This might be my last forum post because I am tired. I can't be wasting my time beating a dead horse.HP is a business and they need to start treating their business more seriously. They need a task force to sit and brain storm about how to keep spammers out in the first place.I know that I have...

all the people I see spamming the forums are signing up long enough to post on the forum but aren't writing any hubs. So ... I was thinking. Why not require three hubs from a person before they can post in the forums? They would still be allowed to read to their heart's content, but they would need...

I have been seeing a lot of forum spam lately. I think it could be *greatly* reduced by only allowing new sign-ups to post under the help section until they've published one hub. After they've published their first hub, then they could post anywhere. I think this would deter a lot of the people who...

Every morning there's a fresh new crop of spam followers. So I've taken to responding to them with a message:"In the extremely unlikely event that I turn up in Nedlands, Western Australia, and in the even more unlikely event that I discover while there that I need curtains and blinds, I will...

This is a suggestion. Do whatever the heck you want to do:For those who don't know, which seems to be many, when you respond to someone who drops a spam link in the forum, you quote the spam link. That means, even if the admin gets rid of the original spam post, the spam link remains because you...
