I've been contemplating this for the past 2 weeks, since the site I'll be making could be..
A) a wiki (think Wikipedia).
B) a information site set up with a blog.
C) a combination of both.
Thing is.. with a Wiki it doesn't feel like your "forced" to keep on updating, but instead you could handle it like you would with your hubs, perhaps a couple times per week splurge a bit by adding content, and also since the topic could be informational (which it would be, either way), it could be a bit easier just going that route. This would be nice if I'm busy with work, going on vacation, etc. On top of that, users could add content so it's more of a community.
But.. I've been doing Wordpress blogs for so long that it's almost second nature, yet the only large drawback is that I feel that I MUST keep on updating daily to get new content to the top of the blog.
If I do both, I may feel a bit overburdened because I'll be researching the topic(s) as well as posting new articles.
What's your thoughts? A wiki? A Wordpress blog? Both?
Go for what you can handle and what you love to do. I hope it pays in the long run. Nothings worse than putting so much time and effort into something and there's no payout. No reward for the hard-work and effort you put into it. Yet there is always learning and bettering your skills through the practice.
Just stick to what you'll love to do!
Personally i can't handle wiki spam-bots, so i prefer blogging platform.

Hi Everyone -I'm almost in the market for a new blogging site, but before I make the final decision to leave the site I currently use (Blogger) I thought I should get some opinions on other sites and see what else is available. The reason I am considering leaving Blogger: Whenever I select...

I know that several hubbers here set up separate web sites under domain names they own themselves. I would appreciate any feedback or advice on the best way to do this especially for people (like me) who aren't total techies but do have basic web experience. Which web hosting services do you...

There is so much of this going on that it may not be worthwhile to mention. Since I know that this site is not cooperative, I sent my DMCA complaint to Google. My hub is copied word for word with all the lovely photographs and even a link to another similar hub. It probably is my best hub with lots...

Anyone can do this, but only if they meet the Wikipedia criteria for a page to be written about them. Would there be a benefit? If Wikihow can have a Wikipedia page, I don't see why network sites can't. Alternatively, the Wikipedia Hubpages page could be expanded to provide information about...

I found some of my content copied on anothe site. I put the URL into the WHOIS site to find out the information. How do I find the email address of the domain registrant? If it isn't obviously listed there, does that mean that information isn't available? The site that has...

First of all, I want to say that I am not considering leaving Hubpages. However, I am seriously considering starting my own website/blog, in addition to keeping my HubPage account. So, here's my understanding on how to go about starting my own site, bear in mind I don't know a lot about it: Buy and...
