Writing Wikipedia Articles for the Network Sites

Anyone can do this, but only if they meet the Wikipedia criteria for a page to be written about them. Would there be a benefit? If Wikihow can have a Wikipedia page,  I don't see why network sites can't. Alternatively, the Wikipedia Hubpages page could be expanded to provide information about the network sites.

Wikipedia is compiled by writers, often by more than one. However, it's its own site. Wikipedia is an informational site, not a promotional site. I don't think your proposal has any validity, Eugene.

I know, but the idea would be to provide information. Currently there's no information anywhere about what the network sites are about.  At least if the Hubpages entry could be updated to include information about network sites, it might be of benefit.

          I don't think there'd be much benefit.

That said, I don't think there's anything stopping you from writing Wiki pages or altering the HP page on there.

I've had a Wiki account for years and can edit but I rarely do anything other than correct obvious typos or minor problems when I see them on there.

I did once create a Wiki page for my friend's band a long time ago, but another editor took it down for not being important enough! big_smile

Donors support it. I suspect TAG donates and has their hired writers/editors write about each network site. We'll see ROI.

      I did find this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ross_Levinsohn

At some point, I would like to know what "scalable media verticals" are, as they're apparently the focus of TAG! big_smile

It sounds like "corporate-media-speak" but what do I know!?! big_smile

On the Wiki thing, I would be wary of using the site for backlinks, if that's Eugene's thinking, i.e. adding links on Wiki to niche sites.

I think he's thinking more about the "reputation" thing, though. My feeling is that mentioning the niches won't make any difference.

No, links don't work, I tried that maybe seven or eight years ago. They were promptly removed.

I figured as much. If backlinks worked then they'd be quickly overrun with spammy links from every Tom, Dick, and Harry.

I don't honestly don't think there would be much impact from a few links anyway.

I do have, or at least I did have, a link in a citation in a Wikimedia, Wikipedia cousin site. I think it's for education. I can't find it now though.

              Edit: Wikiversity, I think.

Kenna, great work indeed. But that does not related to the or any  network sites.                                   Critically, this was in the category of 'general idiots'. Are you an idiot?smile Nope! smile                                    Nevertheless, as you suggested, let the editors of each network produce the stuff. Thanks.

Anybody can write a Wiki page. Most pages aren't written by the subject or even necessarily with their involvement.

There are enough people prepared to write and edit Wikipedia out of the goodness of their hearts to make it work. Write something that's bad or obviously wrong on there and someone will generally pounce on it.

HP tried a similar strategy with hub-hopping but it didn't work out quite so well.

What I did learn from hub-hopping, though, was that most of the stuff that's submitted for publication here is substandard. When I hub-hopped, I always found myself reporting nearly everything for one or another infringement.

It felt overwhelming, like the site was being besieged by crap! smile

I don't see the significance of Wikipedia Page for the hubpage net work site(s).                                  Would maven who own the net works agreeing?sad

Thank you. I know and I agree completely.                                         I had a good knowledge and understanding of my traditional local history. I gathered all the facts and informations from aged and elderly men. Very few from my wife, who sourced them from her dad.                                                  Years ago I attempt to open a Wiki Page in its favour but I desist because the 'roachs will rush in to scavage. The history was part of a project work while I'm in the univdrsity.
