I would like to have an adsense ads show up in a column on right of a hub that would start at the top. I've noticed this on some hubs, but don't know how to rearrange my layout to make that happen.
Any advice?
Make sure the first text capsule has enough text to allow for an ad block to position itself there, and don't have a photo capsule alongside that first text capsule.
I have no photo capsule, and have been experimenting with length of text, but obviously have not hit on the right length.
Can you please be more specific as to what is "enough text?"
Thanks
Currently what you have on "Patron Saint Medals - Symbols of Faith in a Secular World" is not enough.
Enough is not a specific number. There are certain parameters to which the ad placement software (YieldBuild) works to that I don't know. So it's a matter of experimentation.
I will say that your other three hubs have more than enough. If you were to move those images down to the next capsule (or further down, depending on how well it fits) then I'm confident that the ad block will position itself the way you wish to have it.
You might just manage to squeeze in the ad block in "Patron Saint Medals - Symbols of Faith in a Secular World" if you split the following paragraph into two paragraphs:
If it doesn't work you could need an extra sentence or two to make it happen.
Thanks for your detailed explanation. I appreciate the feedback on my hubs.
What I did with Patron Saint Medals is simply switch around the capsules, so that the longer one on history was first. This immediately created the adsense column I wanted. I added more to the original capsule after I got it into the second position. I like the hub better this way, and it fits in with the rest of what I plan to do with it.
If you use the preview feature, you can keep adding text until you finally see an ad block appear where you want it.
It seems to work with two rather long paragraphs. I'd say about 75 words each.
Great answers to this question. I have photo's in the upper right of most of my hubs, hadn't thought of the adsense placement. Looks like I'll have to tweak a few of the hubs.

I recently filled in a survey on how to improve HubPages but forgot to mention a very important design issue which has been bothering me for a long time. When a text capsule is very long, I like to turn it into 2 adjacent capsules so it works like 2 columns. Easier to read, right? But every time I...

Someone told me that they thought the following hub of mine:http://hubpages.com/hub/High-End-Acoust … latpickersHad a lot of potential, and that I should submit it here. So I'm doing so, and hopefully I'm doing so correctly. I haven't been hanging out in the forum, but I think I...

Hi all!I have being doing hubs for over one year now and I developed a layout for my hubs which I feel confortable about, altough I'm not quite sure it's the best to maximize my adsense profits.I tend to write a lot of text - splitting it in several text capsules, I use several images (but I always...

I'm a bit lost and unsure if there's anything I can to to increase revenue from one particular hub of mine: http://hubpages.com/hub/wall-decor-photo-displayThis one hub accounts for 27%-35% of my daily views, every single day, yet I rarely get any clicks, and when I do they are only a few pennies....

I have been playing with some different layouts as to where I have been putting the photos, amazon ads, and etc. I don't have a lot of traffic. I'm starting to learn about marketing, keywords, and SEO. Even so, I don't have a way to judge how people are perceiving the hubs as far as eye appeal. You...

I have made a few hubs lately that are two columns with one column being an RSS capsule. I had no problems with this format until about a week ago. Now whenever I try to do this, it leaves a huge ugly gap of white space and places the capsules below the RSS capsule instead of beside it. It looks...
