Can posting on the forums, and answering questions help you get more traffic. Can they help you get more followers. I have also signed up for squidoo.
What other ways can I gain traffic my hubs. I have started to try to create a hub a day, and link them together, but this isn't helping much, and I am running out of ideas. Thanks for posting, and following!
Welcome to HubPages!
If you are in the forums, taking part in answering questions and getting to know other people, then yes you will get some traffic.
However, HubPages traffic isn't paying traffic if you are here to earn and followers usually won't buy anything if you are selling something. I'm not saying it cannot happen, but isn't likely.
You will see an increase in traffic, because people will check you out, once you take part, like I just did. I visited your profile to see what your hubs were about, before I responded to your post.
I hope that helped and you enjoy your time here.
Welcome tthudium!
Yes, being active in the forums will bring awareness to other hubbers that you are here. As for gaining followers, I find that being active in the forums will help, but the most important rule is to write good, quality hubs.
Linking is one way to gain traffic. I also tweet my hubs, link on Facebook and am engaged with Redgage. Linking can be done by linking your own hubs or by linking other hubbers hubs into yours. By linking other hubbers hubs into yours, you will gain on your karma score.
I suggest you read Sunforged, Ryankett, and Darkside for many helpful suggestions of how to succeed in gaining traffic. These three hubbers are the ones that I read frequently, but there are several other hubbers who have written great hubs on SEO and other methods of gaining traffic and income (their names escape me at the moment, so I apologize to you and these knowledgeable writers).
Happy hubbing!
Oh, as for ideas of what to write, you can check out the "Idea Bank" that you will find under the "My Account" link at the top of the page. There are many questions and topics to choose from.
You're welcome. Even if you are not gearing up to make earnings in your first year, I suggest strongly that you read the three hubbers I have listed. It will help you understand how to build the foundation so that you can launch into earning potential when you are ready.
Don't know if the idea bank refreshes. But, I do think that being active in the forums gives you the necessary exposure and allows other to see your personality. Then they will check out your profile and hubs. I believe that this traffic can only help especially if there are comments on your Hubs as this is seen as fresh content.
Now I know why I get no traffic... it's my personality, isn't it?
Hi tthudium! welcome to HP
I have noticed that too, the idea bank has been the same I think for about three weeks. Yeah being on the forum helps to be noticed and checked out, but more than that you can learn a lot here, especially on the knowledge exchange forum! My best wishes!!

After reading every post, every article, etc... on the subject matter I thought I'd start a post with arguments against Amazon being the source of the free fall in traffic that many of us experienced last week as I don't believe it is the problem. (I can't say 100% for sure).1.) Many hubbers which...

Hello,I've been working hard over the past six months per hubpages and have what I think are a number of nice, interesting hubs. They are getting read quite a bit but few other hubbers choose to follow me. I sometimes will run a query of a topic I'm interested in (like the singer Neil...

There are hundreds of thousands of hubbers out there. Each one has his own agenda. I guess that mostly self promotion is a major concern for many. However, I've noticed that many do it in surrogate ways like inviting someone to be friends etc. Should one be modest about promoting one's good work ?...
