Twice I've had a hub land on the front page of Google.  Actually one still sits there today.  I intended it to be a backlink for my webpage.  My webpage can no longer be found, but my Hub is yet standing firm.  Can anyone explain this phenomenon?

You seem to have two questions in there so:

    1. Hubpages has much higher page authority with google than your site (unless you own a site with thousands of backlinks and a good domain age.) That means google automatically ranks a hub on the same subject/keyword as your website, higher than your site on that search.
    2. What's the keyword? You can rank number one for purple pigeon poo, but if no one's searching it, it doesn't mean much.

Thanks WryLilt!  I hope I'm replying so that you see it.  My keyword was "Persian Rug Sale".  It still remains on the front page.  My actual money page is no where to be found, despite 100 some backlinks!  Thanks.
