Have we any kind of a guideline as to what is a decent Hub Karma level?

    Let's say:

    30-40 Bad
    40-50 Ok
    50-60 Good
    60-70 Better
    70-80 Very good
    90-100 Awesome

    Just curious.

I think above 75 is good.

I think it is the least important number on the site, (though it may affect you in the next life) smile.
BTW-- what about the 80-90 range?

HubKarma has zero impact on earnings, and is extremely overrated as a concept.

Feeling the same. My 25 and now 50 doesn't make any diff for me in any way, it didn't even increase my profile score, didn't see it changed my ranking in google at all either, just ignore

It is a great HubPages business strategy!

Linking will benefit the whole HP - like wikipedia -- but not individually,

Hub Karma wont work here as we are composed of individuals and not many have sockpupps, so they wont link to others work --

And even if they could link to sockpuppets, they would be going against the tos of Hubpages.

Very confused about this. I have not posted any hubs for some time and my level was 85. Now I posted a new hub, linked to other hubber's hub and refreshed a couple of my old hubs with links to mine and other hubber's hubs. Karma went down to 79. I thought it would go up. What did I misunderstand?

      Similar experience.

I was really low - started linking out, shot up as high as 86. Kept linking out (always relevant, I use the suggest links, but only add relevant hubs) and now I'm down to 79.

All this random/impossible-to-determine-what-works stuff can get frustrating.

You're not missing anything.  It will go up with time - It doesn't factor into anything.  Just there to show how often you post comments, and in forums, interact with other hubbers, etc...
Mine started at 1, too, when I signed up.
No worries -  Just keep writing!!

Does this boost how often your pages are shown on various areas of the hubpages site?

I have been linking out to other hubs and my karma score is stuck at 51.  Why is it not going up?  Is there a certain amount of linking out that I must do or something in order for it to go up to the next range?
