    Do you hate your job?

I am sitting in an airport lounge waiting to go to Africa for 6 weeks on an oil rig.
Could see it far enought but have to earn a living.
How else hates their job? I have 15 minutes until my flight, then I don,t exist for 6 weeks.

    Oh f**k POOR ME

I think being a plumber would be crap.  I watched a plumber cut away a downpipe from a toilet and all this raw sewage came gushing out - totally gross

Bye Lyndre! Any jobs going out there for me? Not that I've ever worked on an oil rig but it pays well and I'm unemployed so...

I worked clothing retail for like a week.  It was awful.  Probably not as bad as an oil rig, though. wink

May be you could keep your old job until you find something better,

We have to chop wood and carry water until maybe enlightenment comes on our next job.

Nah, it was impossible to keep that job. Crooked partners, want nothing to do with any of 'em.

Hope enlightenment comes soon for us both, Castlepaloma!

When I need money, something turns up. A psychologist friend of mine calls it havingness.

I expect to get what I need, and that has always worked for me, and my kids, providing health allows activity.

My psychologist friend is amazed at how it works for me as he watched my business and how I ran it.

It is simple. I accept that I need whatever it is, then don't worry about it at all, and that works about 99% of the time for me.

After I learned how to make money it has never posed a problem really.
I wish I could send you a bottle of whatever the hell it is. smile

Just an update on the job from hell.
The oil rig I was on was an absolute s***hole. The accomadation was 4man cabins with a shared toilet and shower, which meant eight men trying to get dressed in the morning or showered after work. I measured the floor space in the room, it measured 2.70 metres by 4.70 metres. So you can imaging what it was like. There was 0.7 metres space between the two tier bunks.

And wasn't I a lucky camper. My roommates were, a snorer, a farter, and a soap dodger. lol

On many parts of the world that (one day's) pay will feed them for an year. smile

        Stop complaining.

        Best Regards

The arms are off the teddy and the dummy is out the pram.
I had to reply again to this post.

Everything is relative to the economic circumstances of the country you live in. I do not dispute that $500 may feed a family for a year, but not in the UK.
I will not try to guess what end of the economic scale you live in in Singapore, which also has it's poverty.

To go back to main subject of this thread. I was pushed into my style of work through neccessity not choice.
I still remember recieving a phone call on an oil rig to tell me my father had died I did not have the chance to say goodbye. Why? I HAD TO WORK.
I also remember my three rugrats smile Missing their first words, their first steps, why? I HAD TO WORK.

Through my work I have managed to put my children through university. But I still missed out on a lot of their childhood why? I HAD TO WORK.
So SunSeven to go back to main idea of the thread which was hating your job, yes I have right to complian if I so wish.

When I first left school, I worked as a 'screw sorter.'  This involved looking at millions of screws individually to make sure they were in perfect condition.  Not only is this the most boring thing I have ever done, but the oil which the screws were coated in removed the skin from my hands, so I was in agony as well as being bored to death.

This must have given you a head ache.

I don't hate my actual job just the situation surrounding it.

I don't know if you read the whole thread, but the topic was hating your job.
Money was only mentioned in an honest answer to a question asked.
Like anyone else I have to earn a living to put bread on the table, but can still hate what I have to do to achieve this goal.

I'm glad you posted this thread - I used to think it would be great to get a job on an oil rig which always pays well, but now I have to take my hat off to boys like you who have to put up with horrendous conditions to put the bread on the table.

Jobs from hell? well I suppose most people at some time in their lives have had one of those. They usually don't last long because something turns up which is slightly better.

You must be crazy to stay in job that is awful, I would never do that no matter what the salary was.

Sometimes in life you have to take stock of where your at and what you want out of life.

Money is great, but if it doesn't bring you the happiness you are seeking then give the job up.
