Please forgive my absence and lack of response as of late. My Mom had a stroke, I flew outta here and haven't been on line till yesterday. She was in the hospital for six days, then moved to a rehab facility for 7 days now, 13 days in all. Love and Peace, Katie

I hope she is doing better. Is someone with her?

I wondered where you were. It can be so stressful when something happens to our parents.

Thank you rebekah.  I was really taken back as to just how difficult it was to see my Mom reduce to such illness, weak and helpless.  I could not do enough for her, so it seemed, not because she demanded anything, she did not, it's just I wanted so badly to make her better and feel safe as she always did me.

Glad you're back with us, Katie.
I would say "Welcome to the dealing with ailing parents club" but I know it's not a club you ever wanted to join.
Still, there are many, many of us hubbers who have stood in your shoes.
Hub Pages has always been a source of support for me during family crises. I hope you will lean on us for -- whatever lightens your load (even if it's just silliness!).
Take care and all the best to your mom in her recovery.
    MM

Mighty Mom your so right and I will, I appreciate that.

I lost my dad when I was very young as was he.

My Mom never remarried and has had this stroke at  young age herself.

She was a healthy and vibrant woman and when I saw her I thought, Who is that.  She had lost a lot of weight and looked so much older, I had just visited with her over the holidays.

It can happen fast.  I didn't sleep for 5 days and I didn't think that was possible.  I was taking care of my Mom as if she were a baby.  She is for now.  I do hope she gets better but I feel there maybe something underlying.  Hence the drastic weight loss in just five weeks.

Thanks for being here I'm so grateful for my hubber family!
      Katie

Glad to have you back and hope that the doctors are able to at least pinpoint the underlying problem and help your mother and you both be comfortable (ie, sleeping every night for you!)
