I just found out about the new new HP ad program from a forum post.

Going off to get in on the action, I get a message telling me that I am "not eligible" to take part.

    Two questions...

    1. Why no email notification of the new program?

    2. Why am I "not eligible"?

The program is being rolled out as I post this. It is being done slowly and by invitation only. wink

The Ad Program only started on March 3rd. Right now it's being rolled out to older members, but by June, everyone on the site should have access to it, according to the staff.

Alright, true. How about members who've proved themselves?

The best way to describe it is, at this point, it's been rolled out to approximately 500 site members, with further waves of invitation to come.

Anyone who claims they know why someone got accepted to the program is just guessing and making up a reason because the sample group does not appear to follow any obviously discernible criteria.

It wouldn't surprise me if the 500 invitees had some element of randomization to them to provide for better data sampling since the system is still being tested.

I believe the expression used was "randomly selected" after the initial 'beta' team tested the HAP.

I would go with "random sample" of hubbers have been invited

I think the correct term was "somewhat randomly selected."
