Hey, I don't ever start silly threads.. but I need a break now ......... miserable... is the word...not that I ever remain there for long
Smile damn it. You cannot be miserable. It will not be tolerated.
Oh well. I'm off to sleep. Good night Sofs.
@Good night Kimberly...I know you're lurking about.
Well what is the use of faith in yourself is great but then you are also big G dependent ...
Oh! Please I haven't had a click in three days.,.. and the traffic is miserable today! Boo hoo
Hi Sofs... you haven't got that on your own mate
I don't think it would be particularly smart to 'Trust' that company. They are doing their fair share of market manipulation, with their ultimate quest to rule the world while appearing to be compliant with anti-trust legislation!
I think you will find that the boys and girls at Hubpages have realized that the need to create their own ad income stream to allow them to counter the effect of that 'Other' company from breaking HP in the longer term, when that Other company feels it is time (within the next 2 years) to completely dictate the terms of operations for ALL article sites etc.
They are growing very dangerously... can you trust them? Hell no.. not if you are a writer... it will get worse and it will require a more united stance from article sites (or In Reality - Writers) to make a stance against the muscles that are being flexed. Remember that I said this and watch how the weekly patents and acquisitions are being used to capture their indirect and proxy marketshare... If HP are smart they will pump their own ad business and sign them into 5 year deals.. because EVERY Site that relies on consistently manipulated adsence income, is going to get screwed big time within the next 2 years! They MUST reduce their exposure reliance on this creeping monopoly.. their lifespan depends on it!
You will see, if you analyze all the transparent moves and consider the potential strategic boardroom decisions that we aren't privvy to!
So Sofs... don't waste good tears mate! Use the energy reading the Real Environment!
PS: I Might Be Completely Wrong About what I have said about HP here... as I have considered that HP Actually Have a Viable Strategic Plan (which should Not Be Assumed! They might be dressing up HP for sale!)- If they do then this is what would be required by HP to counteract and to strategically survive the eventual and predictable Google Take Down/TradeOff.... this has only been a Slap! So if they haven't and if the writers here haven't... well....
But hey... I'm just a boy from Bumble Town.. we don't even know how to keep the sheep of the main street here
So my opinion is worth diddly squat
Oh PD! you sure have more sense than most.. ..but right now, you have got me shaking with fear...
if you Bumble Town guys dounno how to keep the sheep of your streets, you sure know how to get the pearls, I guess.. they are worth more than the sheep...
Well may be you can share your wisdom here.. I have no clue absolutely what is happening here... Freaking out!!
Edit ... I truly appreciate this!!
Sofs... we are all in the same boat.. but we must Get Real.. the ability for an individual entity/writer to make a living is being undermined more and more each day... the point Mark is making also has a major bearing on it.
You must consider your work in the same respect as you would an investment.. which of course it is!
One of the first rules of investing is to diversify your investments, to therefore spread the risk (reduce) of any singular vehicle failing.
You need to think about that in a writing sense and perhaps develop a few of your own vehicles in various niches.
But consider that guys like Mark have done that for ages and yet they are also getting hammered by Google. The answer of course lies in the Crystal Ball... or some indepth research and analysis followed by a weighted approach into the foreseeable areas of the FUTURE markets that will require the skills that you have and can honestly improve upon within the next 18 months... a lot of work for individuals... a lot less work for a collective group of like minded people!
Dust off the Crash Helmet... it's going to be interesting... but DON'T Panic Sofs.. analyze the situation first.... And Then Panic
I think you are bang on - apart from who is at the top of the food chain. Mr Murdoch wants his audience back. You try finding reliable traffic statistics for the major news/media players - but I bet they saw a significant increase in line with the "content farms" decrease.
He is building ad coupon sites and alike here as (excuse the pun.. Paper JV structures that are several tiers high, with lease and write-backs to proxy coys) ad-ons to the newspaper coys and no doubt has done this elsewhere as well...
I'm sure that the growth in the Net caught most of his interests completely unawares and they wish to continue to be seen that way, while they play catchup and beyond!
NZ is a backwater and the general population are not too savvy IT-wise.. so we have a great environment for 'under the radar' and 'early development' test marketing Mark.
I didn't NOT consider that player, I was simply dealing with the question Sofs had posted.
I'm pretty sure that I have that time frame right mate... I am sure that the only way to hold back the wave is to deflect it's flow rather than try to hold it back... too many politicians in the pockets worldwide... but I'm nobody's pawn.. that's why I always take flack!
I have a website you cannot access from the Middle East for doing the same thing.
Well exactly... you play the same game under your own rules... I personally do not think that party is the smartest in the game. He has a team of many that he relies upon... what does that say for starters.. he's not a sharer from what I've seen to date.
It doesn't matter how much smaller you are.. it's how well you do what you do with the cards you have, I believe.
Reduce your exposure in hub pages until you can bank on them... (I don't mean taking down your work) and Diversify your writing, writing sites, your skills and your potential markets.
It is nice to see I am not the only one to have a few conspiracy theory's. It is very hard for me to think it all out to put into words though since I terrify myself when I do. All I will say for now is Chrome OS.
I wouldn't rely on Adsense as a means of making money. I've been here over a year, and it's diddley-squat, really. Your articles have to be really super-targeted for it to bring in more than a few pennies a week.
As I've told you before sofs, you're starting to lose perspective. Stop being concerned about the money aspect. Keep writing elsewhere. I know we're both still trying to figure out the best ways of backlinking. I think it's about the only way to get our stuff read by more people.
Anyway..just wait for things to settle down. The good stuff that the majority of Hubbers write is bound to rise to the top. This is Google's main aim..original, high quality, relevant articles. Always has been. We've already got that here, we just have to get rid of the chaff in an organized way...and soon.
No more tears then...but hey sofs, if you need a shoulder...
Thanks Tim, well sounds like great advice but just look up this thread and then may be you will need a shoulder ...

hi sofs, hope you feel better soon. I felt better when I went to one of the Botanicals here yesterday. The flowers are not yet in full bloom but the leaves are starting to sprout.
You are right about that... well I think I will make a flower hub again..
Nope I don't really stay miserable... resilience is my middle name... Thanks PDH (((((((((hugs )))))))))) to you
Good sofs, you are always encouraging here in the forum (I don't like to when you are feeling low, LOL) and please make the "flower hub" again. HUGS back at ya..
Sofs don't think - do!
It is hard work to get set up to start with but it will pay you back in the future. Don't spread yourself too thin, use the skills that you do have, analyse your hubs, which ones are working, and follow that niche.
If you put the effort in now, over time, slowly building your authority is what you need to do. I have learned, as have many others that the only way forward is to diversify your income.
Even with an off-line job, you are totally reliant upon one direct source. Right now I'd rather be baking, reading a book or sleeping, instead of trying to out-fox the Fox!
If you don't know how then don't believe all the bad hype about HP - there are plenty of articles that are well written that will tell you how to research and build your own sites
Thanks F D, I guess I will keep doing what I do best and wait for things to change.. God knows I am no net savvy hubber... I am here just writing my heart out.. I am trying hard to learn.. hopefully I will Thanks for all the encouragement.
You my fellow hubbers are the best.. lovely people with a lovely heart.

I was sorry to see that this forum thread was closed to comments by HP:http://hubpages.com/forum/topic/78912#topThere was a lot of good information going back and forth there. It may be that some snipe stuff went on between commenters, but the topic is still valid.I'd like to see it continue.

I can't believe it. Since I have started earning, I have never had a day when I made nothing. Maybe tonight things will pick up. HubPages, please check to make sure you didn't disable all my ads!

Ok. I have become aware of what Jehovah's Witnesses have been teaching concerning Salvation, the Afterlife, & many other things in the bible, and quite frankly I have had enough already!!! I'm sick and tired of "Jehovah's Witnesses" parading themselves around the street like they have...
