I'd love some feedback/critique on my first Hub! I was told to publish it and then post it here, but I don't want to be "promoting my own Hub." Should I "unpublish" and then post here?
A hub needs to be published for others to be able to see it. And you can "promote" in the extreme hub makeover.
Post first. Let other see it and then ask for suggestions.
First off, great first hub. I think you have the idea down, using photos as well as text. And you describe everything well.
Some suggestions I would make though.
There's a whole paragraph where you tell us what everything cost. I would actually break that down into a list, in order from your greatest to least expense. And made that list it's own module.
In a hub that's geared towards travellers, that list will be a lot easier to read and to memorize than a whole chunk of text. And it will ensure that more people read your hub because your list will help them plan, the way a list of directions helps us decide when and where to stop for lunch, bathroom breaks, etc.

Do you publish in the morning, afternoon, evening, night or anytime ? Does publishing a hub at a specific time have any effect on the traffic or no difference at all?
