There is still one master over them in the world and they gave them a slap yesterday.  Love it.

Useful as Google is (I'm using Chrome right now), I can't help but feel I'm witnessing their slow downfall. More and more of my friends are switching to Bing, and they're people who weren't even affected by the Panda updates.

Sometimes greed doesn't pay. Google will find that out.

kharma, it started when Sergey Brin nearly walked out of the company - China censorship fiasco. They had changed their CEO twice after that, last one was on Jan 2011

Now that they have been downgraded on revenue concerns, maybe they will put the search algos back to where they were and let us help them get that cash back.

Advertising is their main revenue stream and I don't know why they have to be so fussy about what content they put it beside.  Heck newspapers and flyers have ads in them without any related content.

Nah, that would mean Google admitting that they were wrong and that will NEVER happen.

I doubt if they will be changing their algo specially that they shift some of the burden to the user on how to rate sites - blocking of sites, plus 1 - stamp of approval.

    "Google Gets Slapped"

Actually folks, sorry… Beware cost-cutting moves as a response to this problem. Google could pull an ebay and close all adsense accounts that generate less than X dollars per month, thus enabling a large reduction in staffing.

HP really, really needs to do the programming necessary so that Hubbers without adsense can have their hubs simultaneously display HP adsense ads and Hubber hpad ads in the same view.

Edit: Or, failing that, the hub has the option to just display hpad ads only.

Google has no staff to begin with, how are they going to cut costs and still maintain web dominance.  I don't think thats likely.

Well that's what happens when you mess with HubPages, baby! Or, maybe the update did not have the desired consequences. Hmmm.
