I wanted to ask this for I'm doing a new hub about it.
How many of you 1) hate the keyword tool
2) hate backlinking
3) hate anything but writing hubs (not necessarily including commenting or answering comments) please be specific and feel free to vent!!!
Thankyou:)
I used to do research and backlink my hubs so they would run up to the top of google's seraches until I found out two things.
First, keeping a position becomes very difficult over time with competition from blackhatters who have a massive array of tools and google always changing the search parameters.
Secondly, taking up a position in the top of google searches didn't guarantee clicks anyway.
So I stopped all that crap and just wrote popular topics with good titles and let the chips fall where they may. I was approaching $300/month before the Panda update, hopefully I can regain that soon.
I don't mind using the keyword tool - I often find keywords that would not have occurred to me. Mostly I try to find a subject, then use the tool to find a title and keywords for that topic that people use. Once in a while I find words that are (to me) reasonable and searched for but without the competition of a different word or phrase.
Backlinking I hate as much as you do. I just spent a week spreading over 200 links - boring, time consuming and possibly a waste of time that could have been used for something more productive.
let us know if that time paid off. How on earth did you find 200 places to backlink from?
I loathe backlinking too and am skeptical at how effective it is.
I have only occasionally used adword tool - when I am stuck for a title & want to order it in best way
It's not 200 places to backlink. He placed 200 backlinks. Do realize he has 103 hubs for backlinking to.
That's it, of course. Two links to nearly every hub. A small handful (like how to make RSS feeds on HubPages) got none.
No perceptible effect yet, but it's only been about a week since finishing. I've gotten a handful of visits I know of and have earned $.60 from RedGage.
Hey Wilderness, have you read Sunforged's Hub on RSS Feed Submission? It could help a little bit.

The hub below is one by Mark Knowles about Promotion of RSS Feeds.
http://hubpages.com/hub/Making-money-on … e-rss-feed
I don't know if you've seen these or not. Just trying to help.
Yep! Multiple RSS feeds on each site listed by Sunforged. Done months ago, using the tag method to keep hubs in smaller groups on the feed for longer periods.
I'll have to look at the one by Mark. Thanks for the tips, Cags.
I didn't know there was a keyword tool ... how long's that been around then.... I guess I'd better go and try to find it.
Unless you mean the Google one. I kind of go there and do a quick search, then decide I don't fancy any of what seem to be the better subjects as I already had in mind what I was going to write about, so I then just create an article regardless
