During the past week, I have been unable to use the Preview function with new Hubs I've written. The only way to preview a Hub now (for me) is to click Done Editing (or whatever it's called - Save Unpublished or whatever). This works, but it would be nice to know whether the Preview button is still viable. Is this a glitch that can be fixed easily?
Also, there has been some discussion in the forums about the Automated Summary for our Hubs. See http://hubpages.com/forum/topic/74137 for the recent discussion. The full list that I could find - all of them quite short:

The actual problem is that it seems that no summary for a new Hub is being automatically generated and that we need to write our own. It is not necessarily a problem to write our own, but it is a problem that we don't know that we have to. Maybe some of us have missed a statement about it? Sorry if there has been one; I really have tried to find it, and I'll keep looking. But in the meantime, I wanted to point out at least the Preview problem and draw attention to the lack of awareness about the Summary.
Thanks!
I just checked on of my hubs and clicked on summary, to see what was there. There wasn't anything there, so I wrote a brief summary about the hub I checked.
However, after I was done doing it, I clicked on the ? to see what it said and below is what it said.
Summary of your Hub
Enter a brief summary of your Hub that will be used as a hidden "meta description" tag. This is what other web services will use as summary/preview text for your Hub.
On HubPages, we will also use this summary in listings of Hubs, such as the Hot, Best, and Latest lists (for these listings, if you do not enter a summary, we auto-generate one for you).
Thanks for checking, Cagsil, and thanks for your response.
It seems that this is site-wide, but not previously announced. I am still checking into that aspect.
You're welcome. Unfortunately, I am now going to be forced to check on the rest of my hubs as well.
If Hubpages is only creating summaries for it's own feed, it would have been nice to be informed that summaries would no longer be generated for our hubs and that we had to write them on our own.
It seems like HP is just falling apart and so many problems are coming to light now.
I realize it is hard to find good help in today's economy, but come on.
Me too! and probably everyone else as well, which is why I wanted to post this. Staff probably won't see it before Monday, unfortunately.
I agree that it's actually the lack of information that is the bigger problem although, for people with more Hubs than I have, the work will still be daunting.
, indeed! But, in their defense, all the threads that I listed above came around the same time - two months ago - which was right at about the time of the Panda-blast, blast it! My guess is that in all of the Panda-monium, the announcement of this about the summary was one of those important details that was overlooked. Either it was already being implemented at the time and attention was diverted from it because of the algo change, or else it came as a result of Panda and there was so much chaos at the time that the announcement was overlooked.
I keep thinking I am seeing signs of a return to some sanity here, and I hope it's not just wishful thinking on my part. But...? we'll see....
It is definitely unfortunate that staff isn't going to see this thread until Monday.
I have another thread about "broken" links, if you didn't notice. It has been around for almost 2 weeks now and still remains unaddressed.
So true! I am thinking about sending one of them a PM - not sure whether that would get their attention any sooner, but it may be worth a try.
I was just reading through that one. Thanks for the link, too!
One question that I had about the broken links issue - because I haven't had much experience with broken links, simply because I don't have all that many Hubs - is how you would actually know (in the past) whether you had a broken link before it showed up on the My Account statistics page, if you weren't checking each hub frequently.
In that thread, Glenn mentioned that a bot would not recognize a broken link unless it arrived at a 404 error page (?? - I think I have that right). So, couldn't there have been some broken links in your hubs that were not shown on your stats page, even back before the change? But that you simply didn't know about?
Still, anyway, whether yes or no, the issue really does need to be addressed by the staff, and I am glad you bumped that thread. If necessary, I will contribute to bumping it again until they notice and respond.
[However... I'm signing off forums for a while now. I'll check back later this evening. Bye!]
Yes I noticed seems as tho auto summary is no longer default. Copy paste the first paragraph or write your own seems to be the option today
Sorry, here is the link to the forum thread I mentioned.

Heya! Right- while we did touch on this in the Pro Tips of the 04/20 newsletter (http://hubpages.com/about/newsletter/2011-04-20), I might not have been as explicit about writing custom summaries as I should have been. My apologies.
When I come into the office tomorrow, I'll publish a blog post about this and write a new LC entry so there will be plenty of reminders about doing these. It's a good practice to do custom summaries (and as you pointed out, WoodsmensPost, you could always cut and paste the first paragraph if you don't want to do one). And it's not too much extra effort
I hope you all had a really nice weekend!
Hey Simone, I had another hubber tell me that she recently published a new hub and the summary was done up. So, I'm not exactly sure what's what.
So, I hope you can clarify this. Also, I know Marisa recently started a thread about RSS Feeds?

Wouldn't it be nice if some explanation about the hub came with the above mentioned notices. All you get is the general notice that you hub is overly promotional or substandard and it needs to be fixed. If it is re-submitted and is not fixed properly you could be banned from...

I am having issues with the hubpages staff. Yesterday I updated a hub that was published in 2009. And notice that I was not allow to resubmit it before it was reviewed. Then I tried to update another one and the same thing. I have since attempted to update a few more and...

I have what appears to be way too many broken links - the links are to my own hubs. Testing the links, I see that the little link thingy on the accounts page seems to be off, as those hubs are still there. Anyone else have this problem?I clicked the button for a retest.

Yet on every single hub that I've made in the past 2 years: ALL links have had the .com removed. Why?

Today I have had several alerts for broken links in my hubs that turned out to be videos and all were actually working when I tried playing them,

Hey Hubbers,I guess the more experienced Hubpages members who are more SEO technical are best to answer-I was just thinking about Broken Links and as I stated in another thread, recently I deleted 11 hubs from my list of hubs and found broken links within my hubs that were not identified by...
