    Is it possible to block a hubber from visiting your hubpages? if one has been particularly offensive, can they be "banned" from one's hubpages?

      I'm sorry to hear you got a comment like that.  I agree with everyone else here that you should delete it, as it was probably just some random jerk trying to talk trash for kicks. I wouldn't pay them any attention.

        Well, I dispute that. We shall talk.

    No, but you can deny their comments on your hubs. It might be a good idea to make a note of their IP address.

      how do you find out someone's ip address?  isn't looking that up a form of stalking?

        IP addresses are logged for all comments on hubs.

        the IP # is left on each comment for our benefit, if you want to find out where it comes from, but some IP's are a proxy server and won't identify the user.

          Thanks, rebekaElle.  I didnt know how to trace IP myself.  I had a couple of very mean comments myself, but I just deleted them.  I don't really need the aggravation.   But this is good to know.  Thanks again.

    I got a somewhat snarky comment myself today. All one can do is hunt them down and kill them. It seems to work; leastwise the comments stopped.

    Sad to hear that you are getting offensive comments.Your hubs are not controversial. They are all inspirational and kindly. I am intrigued to know which hub attracted this unwanted attention.Delete the comments. The guy is probably a nutter. Good luck hubbing and I hope this incident is a one off.

    @website examiner and rebekhELLE

    I see. Thanks for telling me, a I didn't know that.  I'll have to look at some of the comments on my own hubs to see what you guys are talking about, as I didn't know ip addresses were given away that easily.  Although, that bit of news kind of makes me very uncomfortable about being on hubpages then, as I value my privacy a lot.  Are Ip addresses visible to everyone?  Or just hubpage users?  I only ask because I'm not too sure I like the idea of any old random stranger finding out where I live off the internet, as the thought is kind of frightening.

      I believe that the comments is the only place on hubpages where the IP is disclosed.

      However, you 'disclose' your IP address every time you visit any web page, some record it (like me) and others don't.  I record it so that I can see where my visitors come from , if (and how often) they come back.

      It does not give your location precisely enough to be an issue, beyond the general area of the city or state that you live.  You were worried a while back that maybe nobody liked you, now you are worried about stalkers !!  your campaign must have paid off big time big_smile

        True. Furthermore, IP addresses are only visible to the hubber who has received the comments, not to other visitors.

    These are social viruses. Better ignore and avoid them. If we are reacting, they will be getting acknowledged. If ignored, will stop the game soon.
