It really is hard to write a book. I think there should be a facility for a general announcement along the lines of

"Charles James has just published his new book - Guide to Packaging and Labelling Law 2011 - available from <link snipped> for £46 including p&p".

Might be a good idea, there are a lot of book writers here.
Of course, you can post links such as this in your profile. Posting it here might get your post deleted.

LOL that is one of the least subtle attempts to conceal raw self promotion I think I have ever seen. Frankly, I'd rather you just slap the link in and say, "Dude. Buy my book." At least that way I wouldn't feel like you think I'm an idiot.

You can announce a book in the books area of the forum and people are very nice and supportive about it.  That seems like more than enough to me.

I'm ready already. I just wanted to reiterate the OP's basic point.

I had a poit once, but they teased me in school so I saved up and had it surgically removed.

[oh, oh, you edited my joke to death]

Shadesbreath - thank you for your comment. I thought putting in a link would be over the edge of getting banned. This is also a genuine request for a feature. We are a community of writers after all.

Psycheskinner - thank you for the suggestion.

Rochelle - thank you for your support.
