When and why did the category "Travel" change to "Locations" in the Answers and Topics sections? It's still Travel in the Forum section. What do you think of the change?
I would never look under "locations" if I was browsing any collection of information for information about "travel". "Destinations" might just possibly do it for me, but "locations" is a very poor choice of term.
In the good old days, people used standard classification systems/thesaurii or hired qualified information specialists to produce customised ones if what was already available was not totally suitable.
A new system could take months to create. It would include careful analysis of terminology used by the intended users of the systems, positioning of terms within hierarchies of broader and narrower terms, selection of preferred terms and their cross-reference to any related/alternative terms someone might use. Before I went freelance, I was involved in the creation of such a system for a European Community service. It took a couple of years before we got something that was acceptable to all the experts involved.
Unfortunately, this all proved too slow and too expensive for the get-rich-quick Internet rabble. As a result, even when attempts are made to provide a classification system for browsing a web site, it is usually illogical, incomplete and unintuitive.
It was a mistake, and has been reverted to "Travel and Places."

I know this isn't a suggestion for a new feature, I'm suggesting the removal of one, but this seemed the best category for my post and the most likely location for it to be seen by a staff member. Can we all think back to January of 2011 when Hubpages traffic was decimated by the original Panda...

I wish I could exclude Q&A when I want to view hubs while signed in. Also, you can only see 5 hubs, and they are always the same. I wish there was some way they could rotate the hubs on the front page more frequently. Whether sorted by "popular" or "best" anyone who looks at...

On the topics we choose to place our hubs under, why doesn't the last category show up?I just noticed the new feature where the topics on our hubs are showing up in red letters on our profile page, etc., which I think is a good thing, however, I noticed one of my hubs not really under the...
