Is HubPages breaking down?

We all know that HP are having problems updating the earnings data (9th/10th/11th/12th/13th May so far for me) but my traffic has also dropped dramatically since the Google Penguin flapped its flippers. I know I am not the only one.

Also a quick trawl through the last few posts on the 'report a fault' forum shows that folks are having a whole raft of strange functional problems with posting, videos etc.

What on earth is going on and should we all now stop posting on a wait and see basis?

My stats have been stuck since last Thursday.  I don't know why they can't stop making all these new updates before they allow us to get used the ones they already have.  This has been this way since the first PANDA.  Good grief give us writers a break!!

They are testing, so I imagine most of these 'updates' are not permanent.

They are ALWAYS testing something or another.  Drives us crazy!!

But if they didn't test and update then where would we be?  That's how improvements happen.  If google is constantly updating the sites that rely on google for traffic have to as well.

I've seen plenty of the "Is hubpages tanking?" threads since I have been here.  I've also been google-slapped before.  However my views came back up and keep getting stronger.  I also really haven't had any technical issues.  I guess each person's experience is different... which leads to the conclusion that there is some amount of personal responsibility in the equation as well.

You are new here.  You will understand once you have been here a while and gone through way too many changes.  Many have left because of some of the idiotic changes google has made and HP has chosen to do.

I don't think that a year and a half really constitutes new or invalidates my opinion..

I don't share the same view as you and I've stated it.  If you feel the need to find some reason that I don't feel the same as you then go for it.  I prefer to think that my experience just doesn't match yours.

Couldn't agree more, Guin ... I was getting really excited as I was getting so many hits ... pride cometh before a fall they say. In this case I tripped over a Penguin smile

I think something is going on every thing is acting a little strange. It's starting to drive me crazy. I want to put up some more hubs but I'm just kind of waiting to see what is happening here.

I must admit that I can't imagine why you would not be able to write in a text capsule  and publish it, babegal.
Sorry to be so dim but I can't think why it wouldn't work ... I think you may need to email HubPages staff, although there may be other, more intelligent HP life forms also reading this forum thread who may be able to help.

Just a suggestion:  type your text into Word (or another program), then go to your text capsule and copy and paste from Word.  I like having my text in Word as a permanent document, too.  I never have any problem with the text capsules.

Well I have been on Hub pages for a little over 2 weeks and have no trouble navigating the site or using features. Could the system you are running have anything to do with all of the problems? I am sure I am not knowing at all what is going on so I will check back here later and see what is going on! Good Luck, and I am all for Updates, windows or otherwise, they seem to keep my laptop running just right!

The same goes for you as the other lady I posted too.  I have been here for 3 years and it gets tiring.  You will see.

You suggest someone else's opinion was worth less than your own, and were surprised when they were terse in response? I don't think "the forums" are responsible for that.

I never suggested that.  I was giving a heads up.

Failure is not always negative. HP is not breaking down, only that they are in the testing testing, and testing era. So, let us keep our fingers crossed. lol
