I am brand new to hubpages. I just started posting articles a week ago. They have all been original things I've done or tried but someone else wrote a similar article to mine before I was even on hubpages and has been filling my comments with accusations. I have not plagiarized anyone's article. I haven't even looked at anyone else's articles yet because i wanted to focus on getting a good amount up and running. Should I delete mine? I don't want people to think I'm copying someone else's work. It's just a coincidence. But their article was on the site first. I took my article down temporarily. What shout I do?
Welcome to Hubpages. I'm sorry to hear you had a rough start. Here are a few ideas on this issue:
1. If the comments are rude and disrespectful it would be best practice to let the HubPages staff know - especially if it is a fellow hubber. Keep a copy of the ip address. It will be next to the comment that was made.
2. Publish your hub again. You have stated that you wrote it and the content is original to you. Many of us have written on similar topics - it will happen. Your hub will have your words, perspective, voice and style and that is what makes it unique to you.
3. Compare your work and words to those of the accuser and do a sincere compare and contrast. You may want to edit if needed. It is not uncommon for HubPages to have more than one Hub on a similar topic. It must still be original to the publishing author though.
4. Go to copyscape.com and cut and paste your url to the hub you wrote. See what comes up. This will show you any plagiarized work by percentage.
5. Don't panic and pace yourself.
I hope this helps! Best wishes to you.
If someone is harassing you here on HubPages, please report it in email to team@hubpages.com. I would not let anyone intimidate me into deleting any original material that I published.
I write about various topics and on most occasions there will be similar material up as there are others who have similar thoughts and ideas. I would not worry about what "others" may say.
I personally would not tolerate any form of harassment or accusations by another member and would report it immediately. No need to try to reason with them yourself.
I would not delete any comments made...plus I would take screen shots of all comments that you find offensive so that if support here at HubPages would like to see what may have been deleted, you will have a copy to send them.
ooops - I see I forgot to give her the e-mail - thanks Dale!
Not a bad idea n taking screenshots of comments. It just irks me to see anyone harassed - especially a newbie.
summerstuff, we are really a great community! Hang in there.
WELCOME TO HUBPAGES!! :-) It truly is a wonderful community, so I am sorry you have gotten some negative feedback on your hubs. I read the comments above, and it is excellent advice. Since almost everything has been said that needs to be said, I won't repeat it.
Just write and learn from other hubbers. It does not seem that you have done anything wrong. Original ideas are completely different from original writing. Keep your writing original.
Again, welcome to HP's; you are going to love it here! :-)
Just a heads up...you are not providing proper attribution for you photos and in some cases you are actually using copy righted material. You will eventually be called out on this and be moderated. It is not allowed to copy photos from others websites. This is not a difficult problem to fix-

summerberrie, are you telling one of us this or was this comment posted on your hub? I'm a bit confused as the link is not HubPages.
oh wait - I confused you with summerstuff.
Missolive--sorry it was suppose to be a link to the learning center- I will re-post- thanks for catching the incorrect link! It is okay our names are similar
At Easter time, I wrote a "how to" Hub, and there was another Hub with almost the exact same subject and instructions on how to make the item. As soon as the two of us realized it had happened we each emailed each other to apologize! Now before I write a Hub, I search to see if there is another one similiar to mine.
Thanks guys! That makes me feel so much better! It was just on one article and your advice helped me take care of it! I really appreciate it!
SO glad you feel better. Take care and best wishes!!
And thanks summerberrie! I just fixed all my photo credits!

Hi all,Initially I was not planning to publish the information of my hubs here because I think it is somewhat personal. So, I have sent a message to the hubpages support about 24 hours ago. But since I haven't get back any reply and my hubs are all still unpublished, I guess I have to do more to...

I'd like to suggest we get rid of Hubber Score - and perhaps even Hub Scores. They:- are constantly misunderstood;- cause a lot of upset and grief in the forums; and- encourage newbie Hubbers to direct their efforts in entirely wrong directionsFor instance, I've known newbie Hubbers stop...

Hi!I am new to HubPages and need HELP! I joined a couple of days ago and have only been able to publish one article. I am unclear as to how postings work. I was under the impression that once I chose a title for my hub, I could just continue to add new topics. I want my Hub...

I just completed my first year on hubpages. Until recently, I haven't had any issues getting my hubs featured. Just a few tweaks coming from Squidoo and all was well, but recently with every hub I edit, I get a lovely e-mail from HQ saying, "Your hub could be featured . ....
