Power is a loaded word to many people. Many believe that power belongs to the more influential and authoritative among us. However, all of us have power whether we wish to acknowledge and take personal responsibility for it or not. Many of us unknowingly give our power away to others, oftentimes with negative consequences. Many of us do not teach our children the importance of their own power, instead inculcating them to be blindly obedient and conforming to the status quo. Yes, many feel that power belongs to someone else instead of ourselves. What is YOUR take on power?
It seems that people believe that they are powerless and have NO power over their own lives. They also maintain that they are not worthy of having power. In addition to feeling powerless, they also feel as if they are anonymous cogs in a machine.
You ask a lot of questions, but never give your take on it. I'd like to hear yours first.
Well, I contend that all of us have power whether we wish to acknowledge it or not. While there are a few people who acknowledge and are comfortable with their own power, many people are quite afraid of their own power. They see this power as somehow inherently evil or they strongly contend that they are not worthy of having power as they feel quite insignificant. It takes a strong and confident person to realize that they are indeed powerful.

I think that it’s extremely sad that people are finding more and more reasons to throw up the “this was done because I am …” and you can fill in the blanks yourself. There comes a time when we the people need to embrace our differences and not use them as an excuse to gain sympathy … empathy … or...
