hello, i came across your response that mentioned you were a drill seargent?

i know this may be an awful odd question but i am newly divorced to a husband who is serving in iraq and i am now dating a soldier from fort lewis that just returned from iraq. i love the life but i am looking for some help as i have a hard time putting how basic combat training is?. i am very out of shape and give myslef a full year as i am 260 pounds but determined to join. i talked to my physician and a local recruiter but thought possibly another opinion on how to do things other than a spouse could be helpful? i have read and read but figured i could make a friend also. thanks

If I understand your question correctly you are considering joining the military but feel you're not physically ready yet and you want to know what basic training is like?  Until we can communicate more on the subject I am going to refer you to a hub written by a young woman (Jessica W) who recently completed basic training.  I think she has done an excellent job describing basic training from a female perspective in her two hubs on the subject.  Read her hub and get back to me.  You can reach me at james.brown115@us.army.mil.  Please inform your current partner of our communications.  The hub is located at:
    http://hubpages.com/hub/What-Its-Like-B … le-Soldier

    Her second hub is at:
    http://hubpages.com/hub/A-Basic-Account … -BOOT-CAMP

After you've read these hub I would be more that grateful to offer futher details.
