Singapore is an island, very close to a large continent, with much water on three sides and very close to the tropic. All those conditions are excellent to see thunderstorms forming. I was in Singapore for a couple of weeks, some years ago and ... it was sunshine every morning with thunderstorms in the evening. Every day! Since Singapore is a very small country, I think it wins the contest of the most thunderstorms per unit of surface.
