I can only speak for myself, but I generally set goals at the beginning of any project and then review them every morning and adjust for what's right at that time. If you set your goals in stone there's always a chance that either you will achieve it and not need it anymore, or you'll get behind due to life's many circumstances and get discouraged because you can't catch up.
