We do have art class in our district (at least for now) but the board cut the elementary music program two years ago. Our high school has a strong music department and I think that it has to do with the kids starting music in kindergarten. We'll see in the years to come how cutting the music program affects high school participation and quality of music in the future.
I am scared that the elementary art program may be on the chopping block list as the district tries to cut costs and cover budget losses.
