Will most of the world eventually talk with an American accent?
Thankfully no. When you cross the ocean there is little to no influence by American accents.
I hope not because there is no single American accent. Southern, New England, So. California, Texas, Wisconsin--all distinguishable accents (and more across the states) and totally different from each other with the exception of speaking English--sort of.
I don't think the world will be around long enough for it to be taken over by one or two kinds of accents...
You mean a British accent right...? After all the Brits brought English to the America's....
Joking, guess you mean everyone speaking with the same accent...unlikely in our lifetime I would think....

I'm from Alabama so my friends pick on me sometimes, and I'm really shy so I get tongue-tied alot, but they're always saying how cute they think it is, especially my northerner guy friends, so I just wanted your opinion does a southern accent turn you off, or do you think it's cute? In South Africa we have 11 native languages so its fare to say a large majority of people speak english as a second or third language.I.too speak Afrikaans as my first language and often crack a laugh at my fellow Afrikaners accents.
