According to you what is the most important function and power of the mind?
The power of our mind, is to create joy and love, and to speak in a loving way..We all have come into life with a preconceived set of negative beliefs.. When we use the power of mind, in a powerful loving way, we will not experience pain, unless we judge ourselves and others.
We can always change our thoughts at any time, and create a new reality for ourself. We our not bound by our pasts at any time. Always there is this new moment...
Well lets see, the power to forgive is wonderfully immense, as simple as it may sound, forgiveness takes a lot of inner strength, mind and will power
I would say memory and the ability to learn from past memories. When a baby touches something hot, a memory is stored and the baby learns not to touch it again....And it works the same for all memories we build as we grow and mature.
It is the source of power in thought, memory and mind. It controls our entire body's function. Unfortunately, we only tap a small portion of our mind as it is more powerful than what we think of.
For me the greatest power of my mind is focus. With appropriate time to think I can solve most any issue I have. And I have yet to find anything I can't accomplish when I put my mind to it. So in other words it is the power to control everything we think and turn it into what we want it to be that is most important. Emotions often cloud our judgement and we take action that is not appropriate, so if there's a second and third most important functions of our mind then they would be reasoning and knowledge. Because with these three things working in sync there is little that we cannot accomplish.
The human mind is a template for virtually anything capable of heroic or evil acts.
Our ability to direct and focus our attention, rather than be drawn by the "'objects or 'thoughtforms' of the mind" is, I believe, the most desirous attribute we can develop. It need be remembered that we are neither our memory, or our ambitions for the future, we are the 'directors' of our attention. We should be able to CHOOSE what we want to focus on, rather than be slaves to an undisciplined 'monkey mind' which leaps from one subject to another as our attention is drawn by ever-changing events.
A study of what we are, and what we are not, is probably the most beneficial thing we can do for ourselves if we want to really lead a happy, productive, and meaningful life.
The mind is very powerful, if you can think it, you can achieve it. And that is very true, what we can think in our minds, we can achieve it if we stop procrastinating and working towards it.
You can actually be very successful if you allow your mind to plan and put in action the strategy that would make you successful. In the Quran it warns people against thinking evil as that is akin to actually doing the evil deed. Just listen to many of those psychologists and hypnoooo-therapists they'll tell you the same, that mind over matter does actually work.
Our body is like a Pc ( Personal Computer), and the mind is like the processor while the brain looks to me like the hard disk. All these are part of the complex data processing that goes on and on in the universe from ages to kingdom come...What do you think?
