What do you believe is the relation between Music and Brain Function?
This has something I've been fascinated with since a very young age and I'm wondering what you all think about it!
In the same vein, Would you approve of music being played in your children's classrooms? Would you want only one genre or a mix of (appropriate) music?
There's no 'music' part of our brain, yet music exists - in some form or the other - in every known culture.
My understanding is that the prevailing theory is that music results from a combination of gross motor skills (clapping, dancing) and language (singing lyrics or scatting/beboping).
So, yes! I definitely think that music should be used more in the classroom, especially for younger children. Exposing children to a wide range of musical genres, if nothing else, would make them more cultured and better global citizens.
