Can anyone tell me the difference between a poem and poetry?

    Can anyone tell me the difference between a poem and poetry?

    Have some difficulty in differentiating these two words? Are they the same or is it that one is a noun and another verb?

    Poetry is the art of writing poems.

    A poem is a rhythmical arrangement of words expressing ideas, experiences or emotions in an imaginative and powerful style.
    Poetry is simply a hot pastrami sandwich buried under salty deep-fried onion rings.

    Poetry is the art form. A poem is an example of that art form.  a similar example is music and a song. A song is an example of the art form known as music. They are both nouns.
