Why don't tatoos and scars grow out and drop off?
It's almost as if there were "genetic feedback." The new cells that are growing outward copy the discolored or deformed ones. What process causes this to happen?
I think the layers of dermis that slough off are not deep enough to take out the scar tissue or the tattoo coloration. Scars, as well as tattoos do change over the years but the depth of damage with both is well below the layers of skin that peel away with years.
