   If you won a trip to outer space, would you go for it or would you take half the value in cash?
   
   There is a contest out there-- (I entered years ago) -- winning prize is a trip to outer space, or you can take about half the value in cash.  What would you do?

   I would go into space if I won a trip, there wouldn't be any amount of cash that would measure up to such an experience. Of course, that is just my opinion. I think the trip could be very valuable, perhaps more so than the cash. Think about the book you could write and the readers you would likely have lined up to get a copy.

   Cash, cash every time as it is so hard to come by these days.    I would pay off my house as it is our last debt - aside from huge health insurance premiums.

   I'd probably take even a quarter amount of the value in cash instead. Although going into space would be an amazing experience, there are too many people struggling along in this world who wouldn't even know how to enter a competition like that. I'd use some of the money for my family, for things they need, like paying for good education for my children, and would give much of it away to charities.

   I'd take the trip. When I'm on my deathbed, I'd rather look back on the time I saw the curvature of the Earth against the inky blackness of the Universe and fully appreciated the utter insignificance of our little blue-green rock in comparison to the sheer enormity of the cosmos, rather than the time I got some money and paid bills.

   Take half in cash, without a doubt, I hate flying, I just do it, because I have to if I want to travel, so trip to outer space? No way, just give me money, thank you...

   I would take the cash. Twenty years ago, I would've taken the flight, danger and all.
   
   I'll wait for the Starship Enterprise -- greater reliability in getting into space, plus the advantage of getting to planets in seconds, and nearby star systems in hours or days. Not bad.

   I'd take the cash and donate some to charity and spend the rest on my family, paying off debts etc. Going in to space has no appeal for me at all but good luck with the competition any way!
