I believe so. This is where Boy Scouts has some value. Also, learning how to sew. Growing up, my father made sure my brother and I knew how to build a fort, a fire, stay warm, get food, etc. From my experience, it is a part of being a child.
Yes, children should learn survival skills. However, I'm not sure if such skills can be literally taught to anyone. The only way one masters 'survival skills' is by walking the life path and going through challenging life situations. No one can be a teacher better than 'life' itself. (You don't have to agree with me....its just the way I see it).
