    Yes - but saying you hear the sea sounds so much better, especially to children who never saw sea before smile

    Thanks for that, I've always wondered. But like the comment above I will keep telling my children it's the sea - much more exciting at a young age.

    I didn't know that. I do remember reading the fairytale about the sea shell and hearing the sea. I often used to look for those shells on the beach and listened to them. It's nice to know that sound I heard is real, even if it is actually my own blood circulation:)

    I remember the day I learned that as a kid, I was very disappointed that it wasn't really the ocean.

      I accepted this fact that it is not a sea sound in a way as kids accept that Santa does not exist
