What is the best way to become a faster reader and still maintain adequate comprehension?
Hi Paul....good question. There are numerous speed-reading programs available. Some are better than others, of course and I'm sorry I can't recommend one or 2 at the moment. I do recall searching this topic quite a while back, for a magazine article I wrote. I found several programs on dvd that seemed superior to others and had money-back guarantees. Apparently these programs are very popular with college students.
I am confident that if you do a search, you too will discover all that is available. In place of a program, however, I know of individuals who were able to increase their reading speed skill and maintain comprehension, on their own, by individual effort. The key is a basic, old-fashioned one. Practice, practice, practice.....using a few useful tips from those who do speed read.
Believe it or not, I learned speed reading on my own, successfully...and can put it to use if necessary. However, since I read for my own purposes, as well as pleasure, with zero time constraints, there is no reason whatsoever for me to speed through any of my reading. In fact, in my own laid back manner, I like to savor every page of what I am reading. Why are you in a hurry? LOL!
I wish I could help more, Paul, but I wish you luck!!
