How many courses have you ever applied for and started but never finished?

We often think we'd like to learn about something we know a little about, but when we begin and get criticised for our efforts we lose interest and just let it drop.

I only did it once with a Philosophy class. I just couldn't get motivated and the attempts I made at papers were off base and didn't seem to impress the instructor. I don't normally like to quit things, but just couldn't finish this class.

I sympathise. It's really difficult studying by correspondence. Somehow the motivation seems to fade.

Three. French (college level is never level 1), Geography (my teacher focused on finance of the countries instead of the true geography), and Sensation/Perception (it was my first high level class during a summer short session. I was way in over my head).

I tried Latin by correspondence and lasted about three lessons. That last one sounds really difficult.

I think I sometimes would drop/add classes in the first week of term when i was in college, but only one time did I really get into a class and then just drop it.  That was w/ an ASL class I took in the night division at the community college near me.  I just realised I wasn't that interested and it wasn't really helping me too much.

Night-school can be really hard. After a long day at work it's so difficult to stay awake! A long time ago I tried to do three subjects at once that way. I lasted about half the year. Finding time for the assignments was the killer.

this was just a night for fun community course, no assignments or anything, i just kept having things come up on the night of the course and msising so i eventually stopped going.

I would say 2...biology and biochemistry in my first year of uni. It was more of a career choice coz i prefer math and chemistry which led me to be a teacher. Though many criticized i just didn't care much coz I felt a calling to be a teacher. 7 years on, no regrets

Good for you! Teaching is a great career, or should I say 'calling', as people who choose it and are not suited must really hate it. I loved it although it certainly has its challenges.
