Why do insects have 6 legs
What evolutionary advantage do 6 legs offer when many animals survive with 4
Because that is the way Mother Nature decided to design them. There will be a survival advantage somewhere in the reasoning that spiders have 8 legs and insects have 6 legs, probably speed and manoeuvrability.

It seems to come up so often, as if faith and logic were mortal enemies. Can you please explain why you see it that way? If you see the opposite, why?Quite frankly, I have NO problem with it.
