What do you think about allowing college students to carry firearms on campus?
Even though I agree with the right to bare arms, I do not think we need to go back to the Wild Wild West. I can see it now, who is the fastest gun on campus. To cut down on rapes and violence, we need more guards, student walking in threes, self defense classes more campus lighting and so forth. Not giving young adults guns to carry!
As a college student, I would not be happy about it at all. I'm already upset that the "Christian" is allowed to stand in the courtyard and yell at random students for saying God's name in vain, dressing inappropriately, and claiming everyone will go to Hell who doesn't listen to him and believe in God. Now there are guns too? Hopefully that false Christian gets shot first.
Sounds like the so called Christian is a bit irrational, certainly not helping God out.
If Barbarians come knocking at the door, they should be told that they are welcome to enter and get an education but they have to leave their clubs outside the gates.
Our universities are one of the last places left where brains actually matter. It'd be a shame if the Neanderthals finished them off. They've been working awfully hard at it lately.
Yes they have, we must come together to find a way to protect our young adults so they can feel safe.
The Louisiana Legislature has twice tried to enact a law that would allow college students carry concealed weapons on campus. The supporters in the Legislature have NRA backing. I was working for an oil and gas trade association and therefore, was exposed to lobbying activities.
I have stated it before that college students, especially freshmen away from home for the first time. Secondly, if I were a student, I am sure there would be some people I would not want to carry guns.
The claim was made that these students could help prevent the campus shootings. Those pulling weapons out of their pockets or backpacks will be shot first, and those nearby may also get in the line of fire. I would not want to live in a dorm with a roommate who had a gun, especially if he liked to drink. We do not need guns on college campuses. By the way, the Louisiana Legislature will not even let law enforcement officers carry guns into the chamber. Only the capitol guard can carry guns. Everyone else has to go through a metal detector. Can you imagine a lawmaker being afraid of someone carrying a gun yet supporting legislation that would let college students carry concealed weapons? It defies all sense of logic and common sense.
Well put, I agree there is no common at work here. I think I would find out who is pushing this law in the Legislature and put pressure on them. Surely their are parents who see the danger in this law passing.
It's a frightening prospect. Eighteen to twenty-five year olds, after all, don't always have the greatest emotional control or judgment. However, I can understand why college-age women, given the prevalence of sexual assaults on college campuses, would want to have a gun. The only problem is that the rapists might have them also.
College students are going to party, this is they way a lot of them let off steam. A student under the influence with a gun; I would not want to be there. And yes a rapists could also have a gun, then we have a shoot out.
i think it is a great idea and is certainly constitutional
all these liberals dont mind sending them off to be shot at and killed but dont think they can responsible., How reprehensible. Utterly stupid
Do you think all college students are responsible enough to carry firearms on campus?
If they are responsible enough to die for me YES
I trust them more than any of the "adult Demorats" esp of the political, kind any day
