Will colleges still offer majors in art, music,or theater in the near future?

Is a college education in anything other than technology, business or science related fields going to be worth anything soon?

Some will and some will not. It is going to depend on the budget and how many are currently enrolled in the various programs. Recently, in Louisiana, some degree programs were dropped because there were only one to three people enrolled.

We are getting to the point that colleges are going to have to specialize. It is impossible for every college or university to offer every course.

Two answer the second part of your question, the answer is yes. Even if you have natural talent as an artist, musician or actor, you need the courses to learn the finer points, the tasks of the others in a play or musical group and you need the guidance to help you develop your talent. People like music and artists are needed. You may not be a recording star, but you my lead a school choir or church choir. You may not be an artist on the scale of the old masters, but you might design the logo that becomes the symbol for a multi-milllion company. You go to school to learn and then you explore the opportunities. You may work as a sales clerk, while waiting for a chance to use your talent, but when that time comes you will be ready. The biggest issue is that the school may not be in hour hometown or even your state. There will be obstacles, but the opportunities will be there in some form, some day.
