Should UConn be built up at the expense of all the other state colleges?
It doesn't seem fair to advance one "favorite" university while the rest of the state-run colleges have their budgets cut to the bone.
I think this depends on what Connecticut's main goal is in having a state college and university system. If the goal is to provide an affordable, accessible, and complete college education to the greatest number of state residents, then no, it would be terrible to spend all education resources on UConn. If the state wants to gain prestige and attract greater and greater numbers of talented individuals, then it could do worse than making UConn (even more of an?) elite and productive research university. One could argue either side in being the most beneficial for the state's economy.
