What grade did your child begin switching classes for each subject?
I am working on a blog and was wondering at what grade your child started switching classrooms for each subject. I am aware that every state and every county is more than likely very different, but if I can get enough responses I can tabulate an average. Thanks so much!!
In 5th and 6th grade they started switching classes a couple of times per day, for every class it wasn't until middle school - 7th grade.
In Contra Costa County, California: In 7th grade, my children switched classes for each subject.
In our school district, our children do not start switching classrooms until Middle School which begins at grade 7.
In my school days (back in the 60s and 70s), I switched classrooms starting in 5th grade.
I think my daughter began moving to different classes/teacher's in 6th grade, the beginning of Middle School.
I have no children so I can't say what goes on today but in my time in CA it was Junior High in 7th grade.
In this area, it is in middle school when they start switching classes. Some start at 6th grade, some at 7th grade.
